  • Patent number: 4979631
Abstract: This relates to blow molded plastic containers wherein at least the body of such containers is of a laminated constuction including, for example, a barrier layer which in the case of the container receiving carbonated products would be a gas barrier layer. It has been found that delamination does occur and this is now solved by selectively providing the container body with minute vent openings which do not extend entirely through the container body, but into that area where delamination occurs and there is an accumulation of a permeant, such as CO.sub.2. The minute vents may be formed in the exterior wall of the container either by way of piercing pins or by utilizing a laser. In the case of the piercing pins, there are incorporated in the blow mold for blow molding the container from a perform and are generally placed along the parting lines of the blow mold and also in central parts of the wall. The construction and operation of the piercing pins may be provided in several forms.

  • Patent number: 4969845
Abstract: An electric terminal connector comprises a generally tubular metal part adapted to fit over the previously bared end of the conductive core of an insulated electric conductor. An insulative sleeve has a front portion adapted to be engaged with this metal part and a rear portion larger than the front portion adapted to fit over the corresponding end of the insulation of the electric conductor. The insulative sleeve comprises a transverse shoulder on its inside. The rear portion of the metal part is straight and its end is adapted to bear on this transverse shoulder. There is at least locally between the metal part and the insulative sleeve a film of adhesive which fastens them together. In line with at least the transverse shoulder the internal surface of the insulative sleeve has a diameter at most equal to that of the inside surface of the metal part.

  • Patent number: 4957222
Abstract: This relates to a barrel or drum scraper to facilitate the complete emptying of a barrel or drum. Barrels and drums which are filled with a liquid containing solids and the like frequently have the solids settle out and become deposited on the inner surface of the barrel wall and the barrel bottom. Thus when you pour out the liquid content of a barrel filled with such a product, there remains in the barrel the solids which have adhered to the body and bottom. This relates to a scraper and barrel handler which will effect the removal of the solids from the walls of the barrel. This is particularly true when the barrel is used to store contaminated materials. In one form, the apparatus includes a barrel support which accurately positions the barrel, after which the scraper assembly moves down into the barrel.

  • Patent number: 4955527
Abstract: A clamshell type carton bottom having integrally connected thereto a domed top with upper portions of side and front panels of the carton bottom defining seats on which there are seated seat members carried by side and front panels of the top and reversely turned so as to slope upwardly and outwardly while the side and front panels slope downwardly and outwardly. Each side panel of the bottom adjacent the front panel of the bottom is provided with a cut line which defines stop means so as to limit the movement of the top into the bottom when the carton is being closed. Further, the bottom front panel is provided with a locking flap which carries a locking tab which engages over the front seat member of the top to lock the top in place relative to the bottom.

  • Patent number: 4750601
Abstract: A clutch release bearing suitable for automobile vehicles comprises an operating element designed to be acted on directly or indirectly by a control member. In practice this is a clutch release yoke. It also comprises a drive member designed to operate on the clutch release device of a clutch. This bears axially on the operating element either directly or indirectly. Coupling means couple the drive element to the operating element in the axial direction. The coupling means are in one piece with a substantially plane plate and have a generally U-shaped configuration, with two parallel arms joined by an arch-shaped curve middle part. They consist of two clips disposed at diametrically opposite positions relative to each other. Each is formed from a respective arm of the aforementioned plate, the whole forming a single member.

  • Patent number: 4649800
Abstract: A self-contained blowback-type firing unit insertable in a gun body as a discrete subassembly and including a barrel and bolt with a compression spring acting between them, characterized in that the barrel and bolt slide together on matching longitudinal track surfaces which are other than cylindrical and circumferentially complete, the bolt being slideable on no surfaces other than the barrel track surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4588062
Abstract: A torsion damping assembly for a friction clutch plate comprises two coaxial parts mounted for relative rotation within a predetermined range of angular displacement. Circumferentially acting springs including a resiliently deformable arm are circumferentially disposed between the coaxial parts. The resiliently deformable arm circumferentially extends from a support member fixed for rotation with one coaxial part and the free end of the arm is attached to the other coaxial part. A pair of axially spaced transverse surfaces are provided on each coaxial part. The support member is disposed axially between the respective pairs of transverse surfaces for maintaining the axial position of the coaxial parts relative to each other.
