  • Patent number: 6753737
Abstract: A precision oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) uses an adjustment feedback signal that, when mixed with a reference signal from a stable reference oscillator, accurately controls the generation of an output signal from a voltage controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO). An OCXO according to the invention has high stability and high accuracy. The digital OXCO can be manufactured at low cost, and is particularly beneficial for Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) base station applications in cellular communication networks an the like.

  • Patent number: 6745395
Abstract: Hats such as baseball-type caps and sun visors which have a brim projecting from the forward part of the hat, or sailor hats or Stetson-type (or cowboy-type or fedora-type) hats that have a brim extending about the periphery of the hat are provided with a device on or forming the brim that presents two or more composite graphic images or sets of images. The hat brim includes at least two interleaved series or sets of sections are arranged in a wave-like manner that each present a composite image or a set of images. The sections of each series of interleaved sections generally face in a common direction so that images or parts of images displayed by the sections of a same series are viewable together, and the sections of different series face in different directions. An observer can view a first image or set of images on the brim from a first direction and second image or set of images on the brim from a second direction.

  • Patent number: 6748000
Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, for compensating for variable delays in the communication of packet data to a receiving station during, for example, a VOIP (Voice-Over-Internet Protocol) communication session. Compensation is made for surges of data received at the receiving station subsequent to a congestion condition. A jitter buffer and a trimming buffer are both utilized to buffer data packets thereat. The data buffered at the trimming buffer is selectably trimmed in a manner to permit the informational content of the data received at the receiving station to be recovered without introducing significant delay times in the recovery of the informational content.

  • Patent number: 6744739
Abstract: A method and system are described herein for obtaining IGP network information useful in determining network routing topologies. The method involves querying a router for its router identifier and all its area identifiers, counting the router's number of area identifiers to determine whether the router is an ABR or an ASBR, and querying the router's link state database for the lowest area identifier on the router. The method further involves importing all Type 1 and Type 2 LSAs for that area into the database of a network discovery software engine, importing from the router's link state database only those networks outside the router's autonomous system that are also directly connected to an ASBR, then moving to the next highest area identifier in the router's database to repeat importing Type 1 and Type 2 LSAs for that area into the database.

  • Patent number: 6745312
Abstract: A system and method for automatically reallocating resources among partitions based on factors including relative resource pain rates and user assigned priority. A tuner executes several tasks, including determining relative memory pain rates for partitions and allocating memory among partitions so that future relative memory pain rates obtained after the allocation will be more evenly distributed among the partitions than current relative memory pain rates are distributed. Also, the tuner determines current relative processor and interactive pain rates for partitions and allocates processor and interactive power among these partitions so that future relative processor and interactive pain rates obtained after the allocation will be more evenly distributed among the partitions than current relative processor and interactive pain rates are distributed.

  • Patent number: 6741837
Abstract: A base station 422 of a second system performs communication using a frequency adjacent to a frequency employed by communication between a base station 412 and a mobile station 414 of a first system. When the mobile station 414 is close to the base station 422, the communication of the base station 422 undergoes interference by the leakage power of the mobile station 414. To avoid the interference, the transmission is halted of the mobile station 414 of the first system, which provides the interference by the leakage power.

  • Patent number: 6738251
Abstract: The present invention provides a conductive pattern that has low electric resistivity, is superior in adhesion to a substrate and does not cause substrate cracking during plating, a multilayered substrate incorporating such a conductive pattern, and a fabricating method for a multilayered substrate. At first, a conductive composition including a metal powder containing not less than 95 mass % of Ag, a sintering restrainer containing Cr and/or Cr compound, a dielectric loss conditioner containing Mn and/or Mn compound, and a vehicle is prepared. Next, electrodes made of the conductive composition are formed on a plurality of green sheets. The plurality of green sheets formed with the electrodes are then laminated to form a laminated product, whereafter the laminated product is sintered.

  • Patent number: 6724806
Abstract: A transmission method for implementing variable rate transmission. Part of the baseband processing of a transmitter based on a CDMA transmission scheme is described. A transmitted information sequence in the form of a digital signal is phase modulated by a phase modulator 105. An orthogonal code generator 101 selects, in response to rate information of the transmitted signal, the orthogonal code to be generated. The bit rate of the orthogonal code the orthogonal code generator 101 generates is double the maximum transmission rate. The modulated transmitted signal is multiplied by the orthogonal code corresponding to the rate information with a multiplier 103. The transmitted signal, which is multiplied by the orthogonal code corresponding to the rate information, is further multiplied by a spreading code sequence with a multiplier 104 to be spread into a CDMA signal, and is transmitted under power transmission control based on the rate information.

  • Patent number: 6716010
Abstract: A bearing arrangement for a gear pump comprises first and second separate bearing blocks each having a respective block housing. The first and second bearing blocks together defining an axially directed bearing surface including a bridge region formed from an erosion resistant material which acts to separate inlet and outlet ports of the pump and a second region formed from a reduced friction material. The bridge region is defined by first and second insert members cast within respective ones of the block housings. The first and second bearing blocks are arranged such that respective surfaces of the first and second insert members mate with one another, and the first and second insert members are arranged such that the bridge region of the bearing surface is flush with the second region.

  • Patent number: 6718103
Abstract: A system for transmitting images and methods of manufacturing and using the same. The system for transmitting images includes a camera, a fiber optic cable, and a display system. The camera comprises a lens system for receiving light signals from one or more still and/or moving objects to be imaged. Upon receiving the light signals, the lens system intensifies the light signals to produce a substantially-reduced image of the objects and communicates the entire substantially-reduced image in real-time to a lens system of the display system via a single filament of the fiber optic cable. The lens system of the display system then deminiaturizes (or magnifies) the substantially-reduced image to produce an expanded image of the objects. The expanded image, which is continuously updated by the lens system of the camera to generate real-time still and/or moving images, is visibly presented by the display system.
