Abstract: A compact and wide band surface acoustic wave device for intermediate-frequency is disclosed. A piezoelectric substrate for use in a surface acoustic wave device having high electromechanical coupling factor and low SAW velocity is also disclosed. The surface acoustic wave device is constituted of a piezoelectric substrate 1 and inter-digital electrodes 2, 2 formed on the piezoelectric substrate 1. The piezoelectric substrate 1 has a crystal structure of Ca3Ga2Ge4O14 and is represented by the chemical formula, Sr3NbGa3Si2O14.

Abstract: A centrifugal compressor assembly includes two centrifugal compressor stages, a diffuser duct, a plurality of collection chambers, inlet and outlet tubing, and a built-in electrical motor between the stages. The centrifugal compressor assembly is used in a refrigerating system. The electrical motor includes a rotor positioned with the compressor stage rotors on one shaft mounted on gasodynamic bearings, with the stator fixed inside the motor housing, forming a cooling skirt. The cooling skirt for the stator is formed by lengthwise slots on the surface of the stator in contact with the housing, with the ends of the slots being connected to annular grooves on the internal surface of the motor housing. Each of the annular grooves is connected to coolant feed and discharge ducts.

Abstract: A system and method for compiling source code comprising natural language declarations, natural language method calls, and natural language control structures into computer-executable object code is disclosed. The system and method allow the compilation of source code containing both natural language and computer language into computer-executable object code. The system and method use a component database, containing components and associated natural language instructions, to select one or more components having an instruction declaration associated with the natural language instruction. A solution manager is used to resolve ambiguities inherent in the use of natural language instructions in the source code.

Abstract: A method and system for providing dynamically changing sets of categories of television programming. The method involves a person or intelligent agent generating at a head end a first data set identifying programming categories based at least in part on programming choices available for viewing at a first time. This data set is transmitted from the head end to remote receivers, which display the set of programming categories to the viewer who can select a category and view the various programming choices within the category. The method further involves generating a second data set identifying different programming categories based at least in part on programming choices available for viewing at a second time later than the first time. This second set is also transmitted to remote receivers so that viewers see an updated set of programming categories. Thus, viewers are always presented with categories for which programming is currently available.

Abstract: A method and system of providing a user interface for presenting television programming schedule data on a display. The schedule data is organized in a data plane comprising data cells identifying the items of schedule data, such as the titles of the television programs. The method involves presenting a highlight cell or cursor at a fixed position on the display such that a first data cell is at a concurrent position with the highlight cell, and allowing the data plane to scroll on the display in at least one direction such that all or part of the first data cell moves out of concurrent position with the highlight cell and a second data cell or part thereof moves into concurrent position with the highlight cell. This fixed position highlight cell thus remains stationary while the data plane or electronic program guide scrid moves, making it easier for viewers to peruse the selections in the data plane without moving their eyes substantially.

Abstract: A feed legs assembly 120 connects a horn 180 and mount assembly 160 to a back frame 60 in an antenna assembly. The feed legs assembly 120 includes a main feed leg 122, a right side feed leg 140, and a left side feed leg 142. The main feed leg includes an amp frame 124, a feed strut 126, a quick release latch 128, an amplifier 132, a mating wave guide fitting 204, a flexible wave guide 137, wave guide end fitting 208, and a horn mount attachment 138. The amp frame 124 provides a protective structure around the amplifier 132, and wave guide end fitting 204, as well as lowering the overall profile and center of balance of the main feed leg 122. The wave guide end fitting of the flexible wave guide attaches to the mating wave guide fitting of the amplifier and carries the transmission signal to the horn. The side feed legs connect to the main feed leg 122 to the back frame. The side feed legs attach to the main feed leg 122 and back frame through Hein joints 148, 150, 156, and 158 and act as long turnbuckles.

Abstract: A method and system for efficiently resolving the multi-method dispatching problem provided. The dispatching problem is reduced to geometric problems on multi-dimensional grids and new data structures are provided for the resulting geometric problems. In particular, methods having the same name are mapped to a set of rectangles based on a pair of numbers associated with each argument. The pair of numbers is an interval identifying the position of the argument in a class hierarchy tree. The interval is found by computing an Euler Tour of the class hierarchy tree. For a given method invocation in an object-oriented program, the method invocation is mapped to a point based on one of the numbers in the interval associated with each argument in the invocation. The problem of finding the most specific method for the method invocation is thus transformed into the so-called point enclosure problem in geometry, in which the smallest rectangle is found which encloses a given point.

Abstract: There is disclosed in a communications system having an origination storage device and a destination storage device, a data transfer pipeline apparatus for transferring data in a sequence of N stages, where N is a positive integer greater than 1, from the origination to the destination device. The data transfer apparatus comprises dedicated memory means having a predetermined number of buffers dedicated for carrying data associated with the transfer of data from the origination storage device to the destination device; and master control means for registering and controlling processes associated with the data transfer apparatus for participation in the N stage data transfer sequence. The processes include at least a first stage process for initiating the data transfer and a last Nth stage process for completing data transfer.

Abstract: An accident and emergency trolley supports and transports a patient, and includes a surface overlying an upper frame which is supported on a base frame in order to be raised and lowered relative to the base frame. The upper frame is mounted at its periphery on opposed radius arms connected to respective first and second actuators, which are operated by foot-operated pedals. The pedals are disposed on one or either side of the trolley such that operation of any single pedal enables the trolley to be raised at either end or both ends simultaneously. The opposed radius arms provide an uninterrupted window under the trolley allowing for X-ray/imaging.

Abstract: A monitoring system for determining accurate topology features of a network, and methods of operating the monitoring system, are disclosed. In the preferred embodiment, the system creates an accurate topology map of a given network by: obtaining a list of managed network devices; identifying trunk ports, link channel ports, and trunk channel ports; identifying link port and node ports; determining connections between the ports; storing the collected information; and displaying the network topology. Methods are disclosed for identifying link and node ports. In the preferred method, information regarding the devices; including VLAN/backplane information, router ARP table information, device interface information, and physical address information for machines and devices connected to the network is obtained. Also, the ports and/or devices are logically grouped in order to provide more accurate topology information.

Abstract: A method for informing a user of topics of discussion in a recorded chat between two or more people is described. The method includes the steps of identifying elements from the chat having similar content, labeling some or all of the identified elements as topics, and presenting the topics to the user. Identifying elements from the chat having similar content includes decomposing the chat into utterances made by the people involved in the chat and clustering the utterances using document clustering techniques on each utterance to identify elements in the utterances having similar content.

Abstract: An inflatable seating pad (10) consists of a hand operated pump (12) integrated within the top surface to inflate the pad with air. The pad (10) has a shut-off connector (6) at one corner which locates and is connected to a pressure relief valve (8). In use, the pad (10) is inflated by pushing upon the hand operated pump (12) to over inflate the pad. The shut-off connector (6) maintains the pressure in the pad (10). To set the pressure to a desired pressure the user actuates the pressure relief valve (pre-set to optimum pressure) to operate the shut-off connector (6) to allow air to exhaust through the pressure relief valve.

Abstract: A memory controller which performs a verification of the state of the erased block is performed prior to the writing operation is disclosed. The memory controller according to said present invention further performs a test operation to judge whether the erased block is a defective block to be disposed or not if the erased block is concluded to be not prefer to store data during the verification. In the case where the block is concluded to be a defective block with a permanent error by the test operation, the block is inhibited to use. In the case where the block is concluded to be a defective block with a transient error by the test operation, on the other hand, the block is treated as new erased block.

Abstract: The invention disclosed herein relates to cooperative computing environments and information retrieval and management methods and systems. More particularly, the present invention relates to methods and systems for capturing and generating useful information about a user's access and use of data on a computer system, such as in the form of documents stored on remote servers, and making such useful information available to others. Documents on the computer system are accessible through a plurality of different methods, such as by specifying an identifier or locator for the document, activating a hyperlink in another document which points to the document, or navigating to the document through navigational commands in an application program such as a browser.
