  • Patent number: 6671289
Abstract: A short cell multiplexing is provided for chiefly transmitting data shorter than the payload of a standard ATM cell (basically the data of less than 48 bytes, but the data more than 48 bytes can be allowed). A standard ATM cell assembler 1 converts various forms of input information into short cells, places the short cells in standard ATM cells efficiently considering their information length, and output them to a B/ISDN network 7. The standard ATM cell disassembler 2 disassembles the standard ATM cells, which are assembled by the standard ATM cell assembler 1 and is input through the B-ISDN network 7, into short cells, converts the short cells into those with the original input information forms, and outputs them to channels. The configuration makes it possible for the short cell ATM cell multiplexing to improve channel efficiency with small delay, and matching to the standard ATM system.

  • Patent number: 6665837
Abstract: A method is described for identifying related pages among a plurality of pages in a linked database such as the World Wide Web. An initial page is selected from the plurality of pages. Pages linked to the initial page are represented as a graph in a memory. The pages represented in the graph are scored on content, and a set of pages is selected, the selected set of pages having scores greater than a first predetermined threshold. The selected set of pages is scored on connectivity, and a subset of the set of pages that have scores greater than a second predetermined threshold are selected as related pages.

A band pass filter according to the present invention employs a dielectric block of substantially rectangular prismatic shape constituted of a first portion lying between a first cross-section of the dielectric block and a second cross-section of the dielectric block substantially parallel to the first cross-section and second and third portions divided by the first portion and metal plates formed on the surfaces of the dielectric block. The first portion of the dielectric block and the metal plates formed thereon are enabled to act as an evanescent waveguide. The second portion of the dielectric block and the metal plates formed thereon are enabled to act as a first resonator. The third portion of the dielectric block and the metal plates formed thereon are enabled to act as a second resonator.

  • Patent number: 6654813
Abstract: A set of criteria is acquired that defines a category of entities. The set of criteria is dynamically applied to identify an entity that meets the criteria. It is determined that the entity is registered as having control over at least a portion of a World-Wide Web address. The at least a portion of a World-Wide Web address is associated with the entity in a presentation that indicates that the entity belongs to the category of entities. In the presentation, a link may be included to a set of computer data about the entity. The set of computer data includes information other than information provided at a World-Wide Web site corresponding to the World-Wide Web address.

  • Patent number: 6654737
Abstract: A database which consists of HTML, XML or other standard-format, hypertext documents is disclosed. For each “record” in the database there is a master document and multiple related documents, called “view documents.” The view documents are related to the master document and may have a subset of the data of the master document. The view documents are generally created at the same time as the master document. The master document and view documents are revised by the DBMS together. The view documents are based upon pre-defined templates. The view documents provide alternative views of the data in the master document, and may be tailored to the user or class of user. Thus, each “record” in the database is actually one or more files. The “database” is formed from a directory tree of these files, structured in a pre-defined and controlled manner.

  • Patent number: 6647003
Abstract: There are provided a channel estimation unit for achieving highly accurate channel estimation, a CDMA receiver and a CDMA transceiver with the channel estimation unit. Channel estimates of data symbols are obtained from a pilot symbol sequence which is parallel with a data symbol sequence. First, a plurality of pilot blocks are generated from the pilot symbol sequence. The channel estimates of the data symbols are obtained by calculating a sum of appropriately weighted averages of pilot symbols in the individual pilot blocks. This enables highly accurate channel estimation. More accurate channel estimation can be achieved by carrying out the channel estimation of the data symbols using the pilot symbols belonging to other slots rather than limiting to the pilot symbols in the slot to which the estimated data symbol belongs.

  • Patent number: 6643696
Abstract: A method for monitoring client interaction with a resource downloaded from a server in a computer network includes the steps of using a client to specify an address of a resource located on a first server, downloading a file corresponding to the resource from the first server in response to specification of the address, using the client to specify an address of a first executable program located on a second server, the address of the first executable program being embedded in the file downloaded from the first server, the first executable program including a software timer for monitoring the amount of time the client spends interacting with and displaying the file downloaded from the first server, downloading the first executable program from the second server to run on the client so as to determine the amount of time the client interacts with the file downloaded from the first server, using a server to acquire client identifying indicia from the client, and uploading the amount of time determined by the firs

  • Patent number: 6639903
Abstract: An improvement of an ATM transmission system between a mobileservices switching center and a base station in a mobile communication system. A delay time for generating/sending out a cell is minimized to ensure the information quality required for real time transmission. When the transmission interval of a call type a is T, call types b and c whose periods are twice and four time that of the call type a should be transmitted at intervals twice and four times that of the call type a. A transmitted frame assembler/disassembler 104 in the base station prepares transmitted frames 201 each including the cell slots 201-1, 201-2 and 201-3 for transferring the respective call types, and schedules such that the transmitted frames are sent out to a channel 112 at the interval T, thereby enabling the transmission to be carried out without delay.

  • Patent number: 6630912
Abstract: A pod mount assembly 20 is configured in a folding quad pod design with four ground-engaging legs 22, 24, 26, 28, and a rotatable central column 30. The ground-engaging legs rotatably connect to the base of the central column 30. The central column 30 contains a telescoping central shaft 32. The central column 30 is rotatable from a horizontal position into a vertical position. The telescopic shaft 32 is extendable upward from a retracted position within the central column 30 into a extended position there above. The pod mount assembly 20 includes a hydraulic pump and cylinder to rotate the central column 30 and extend the telescopic shaft 32. The unique folding and collapsible design of the pod mount assembly 20 creates a small form factor for high mobility and ease of deployment. The pod mount assembly 20 acts as the mounting base for an antenna assembly 10.

  • Patent number: 6631288
Abstract: A skin evaluation apparatus and method for rapidly assessing the degree of erythema of the skin and the skin's response to blanching. The apparatus includes a housing comprising a probe head having an emitter and sensor and a blanching edge. The emitter consists of bundles of optical fibers by means of which light from LEDs is delivered to and recovered from the skin. In use, the probe head is held flush with the skin surface causing the blanching edge to indent a fixed area of skin causing a local blanche. As the probe head is moved, the blanching edge slides along the skin surface evacuating blood as it moves. During the blanche, the LEDs are switched on and the scattered signal collected using a photodiode. A processor measures the attenuation of scattered light and gives a display of blood content against time, providing an indication of the blood circulation in that area.

  • Patent number: 6625596
Abstract: Data storage and retrieval methods are described in which data is stored in records within a docubase, and desired records are identified and/or selected by searching index files which map search criteria into appropriate records. Each index file includes a header with header entries and a body with body entries. Each header entry comprises a header-to-body pointer which points to a location in the body of the same index file which is the starting point of the body entries related to the header-to-body pointer pointing thereto. The body entries in turn comprise body-to-record-pointers which point to the records within the docubase satisfying the search criteria. Alternatively, the body entries may comprise body-to-body pointers which point to body entries in a second index file, which in turn point to the records within the docubase satisfying the search criteria. The records are stored in HTML format.
