  • Patent number: 6064515
Abstract: A feedback-type optical fiber amplifier using hybrid pumping light beams disclosed, including: an optical line through which an optical signal is propagated; a plurality of rare-earth-doped fibers, doped with a predetermined rare earth ion, being coupled to the optical line in series; a plurality of pumping light sources for outputting pumping light beams having wavelengths different from each other; a plurality of optical coupling means for coupling the pumping light beams to the optical line; and feedback means for dividing the pumping light beam outputted through at least one of the rare-earth-doped fibers, and looping it back to corresponding rare-earth-doped fiber as its input. Therefore, the length of fiber constructing the optical fiber amplifier is reduced, and the amplification efficiency is improved.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a smart battery charging system, a charging method therefor and a power supply system for portable computer using the same that executes various charging operations securely corresponding to types of the smart batteries connected to the notebook computer. A smart battery charger 60 supplies charging voltage and charging current to the smart battery 70 selectively by controlling data input through an SM bus. The smart battery charger 60 and the smart battery 70 are connected to a keyboard controller 80 through the SM bus. The keyboard controller 80 determines the power on-off status of the notebook computer, based on second power voltage outputted from an SMPS 130, and identifies the types of the smart batteries, based on battery identifying signals outputted from the smart battery charger 60.

  • Patent number: 4423588
Abstract: Wire payoff devices are described which are used in conjunction with bobbin supporting cradles typically found in wire stranding and cabling machines such as high speed tubular stranders, bow or skip stranders and planetary stranders. The payoff devices include dancer arrangements each having a pair of pulley wheels mounted on a common support member which is itself mounted for independent movements along two substantially orthogonal directions. One of the pulley wheels is effectively fixed and continuously releases the wire along the axis of the cradle. The other or receiving pulley repeatedly traverses the axial width of the bobbin to follow the take-off points of the wire to provide uniform take-off and prevent scraping or chafing of the wire.

  • Patent number: 4409985
Abstract: An electronic ergometer for cardiac arrhythmia patients is disclosed, and it is capable of determining and indicating the magnitude of power developed by an individual. In addition, it can indicate the power at which a cardiac arrhythmia occurs. In one embodiment of the invention, the electronic ergometer is capable of storing the magnitude of power developed by the patient at which the cardiac arrhythmia occurred. The device consists of various electronic components encased in a simple housing attached to the belt, or other clothing, of the patient. It is used by the patient during physical activity, in order to monitor the work and power of the patient. In addition, since an electrocardiogram sensor is provided, the unit sounds an alarm when a cardiac arrhythmia occurs. This advises the patient to cease his working and to rest.
