  • Patent number: 4277504
Abstract: A premix to make a dietetic cake which essentially need only to be combined with bulk items such as high fructose corn syrup, flour and water, mixed and baked to produce a cake. The mix is free of artificial sweeteners, egg yolks and ordinary sugar, thus making it suitable for consumption by diabetics and coronary care patients.Fructose in the form of high fructose corn syrup provides natural sweetness and combines with a unique blend of other ingredients, including flour, emulsifiers and baking powder having glucono-delta-lactone as its acidic component to produce a cake having good volume, texture, flavor, moisture, mouth-feel, and sweetness.

  • Patent number: 3993791
Abstract: Method and apparatus for separating and washing solid particles in suspension in a liquid which includes a series of continuously decanting centrifuges and an equal number of reslurry stations. Fresh wash liquid is introduced into the last of the reslurry stations, together with solids which are discharged from the next to last decanting centrifuge. Solids are separated from liquid in the last decanting centrifuge and the effluent therefrom is directed into the next to last reslurry station for dilution of the suspension therein. The system is particularly adapted for use as a continuous lautering method for producing malt beverages.

  • Patent number: 3981673
Abstract: An apparatus for transferring parisons from an oven to a blow mold has the capability of straightening up tilted parisons and gripping them uniformly without flattening the ends. The apparatus includes a gripper with jaws which open wide when opened, thereby providing an entry space between the jaws for a tilted parison as well as an upright parison and which in the closed position form an essentially complete circle about the parison to uniformly grip the same in cooperation with a push piece which moves into the open end of the parison.

  • Patent number: 3961759
Abstract: A remote controlled apparatus for automatically starting a web winding around a core, comprising a first and second winding drum, a rider roll nipping the core against the winding drums. A pair of plates positionable into contact with the rider roll and the winding drums, thereby enclosing the pocket between said winding drums and said rider roll. A web holding means located underneath the winding drums and engageable with the first winding drum, thereby preventing the leading end of a severed web from falling down between the winding drums.

  • Patent number: 3956832
Abstract: A double felted dryer arrangement wherein a web to be dried is held between the felts and guided onto the surface of a foraminous dryer roll whereupon the outermost felt is guided away from the dryer and directed over a hot air blower mounted over the now exposed web carried on the innermost felt on the dryer shell surface. The hot air blowing on the web is complimented by an opposed vacuum chamber within the roll shell to promote improved through air drying web and web stabilization.

  • Patent number: 3950833
Abstract: A roller having an improved covering layer and a process for making such. The covering layer has a generally continuous, seamless matrix phase and a generally circumferentially extending open-celled foam structure which is distributed throughout such matrix phase and preferably is coextensive therewith. The process involves the steps of mounting an open-celled, preformed foam layer over roll circumferential portions, depositing a liquid comprising a resin or resin precursor in the foam layer, and converting such liquid into a solid organic resin.

  • Patent number: 3947243
Abstract: An oven for heating tubular parisons has a conveyor passing therethrough with parison holders rotatably mounted thereon for vertically supporting the parisons. To assure uniform heating of the parisons around their circumferences, the parison holders are rotated about their axes. For this purpose teeth projecting out from the parison holders engage a group of stiff brush-like bristles, arranged either as tufts or as a continuous stand thereof, fixedly arranged alongside the conveyor path at a distance therefrom to be engaged by the said teeth.

  • Patent number: 3936953
Abstract: Method and apparatus for drying a moving web utilizing one or more air caps each including an apertured plate together with a high pressure plenum which is arranged to deliver high pressure air through the apertures in the plate to impinge against the web. The geometry of the plates, their spacing from the web and the positioning of exhaust means are correlated to provide a minimum amount of cross flow interference thereby improving the heat transfer and ultimately the efficiency of the drying operation.

  • Patent number: 3930788
Abstract: An oven for heating tubular parisons to a target or orientation temperature. A first plenum on one side of the oven and a second plenum on the opposite side of the oven, both exhaust to a common chamber disposed therebetween. The parisons are heated by a high velocity fluid above the target temperature in the zone defined by the first plenum and the chamber and the parisons are tempered by a lower velocity fluid at the target temperature in the zone defined by the second plenum and the chamber.
