The system includes an indoor unit that is audibly coupled to the detector and an outdoor unit containing an independent power supply that communicates with the indoor unit to provide an alert signal for directing rescue operations. The outdoor unit includes a relay which is energized by a signal from the indoor unit to close a contact in an alarm circuit and thus generate an alert signal. The relay is held energized by the outdoor power supply so that the alert signal persists in the event the detector or the indoor unit becomes disabled.
Abstract: A die cut wick for use in a burner having a rectangular body that contains two half sections that are folded back into a face to face alignment. Each half section further contains a tab upwardly disposed from the top surface of the body, the tabs being centrally positioned on the half sections with the top surface of the body extending laterally to either side to form a shoulder. The tabs of the wick are folded against each other and passed upwardly through a hollow stud secured to the lid of the fuel container. The shoulders of the tabs abut the bottom surface of the lid to prevent the tabs from being drawn entirely through the stud and the body is secured to the bottom of the lid using holt melt glue or the like. The end of the tabs extend beyond the top of the stud to form the flame region of the burner. The end of the tabs extend beyond the top of the stud to form the flame region of the burner. The burning rate and heat output of the flame is controlled by separating the exposed ends of the tabs.
Abstract: A portable power unit for unloading a silage wagon which unit is adapted to be conveniently mounted on the back of the truck used to tow the wagon. The power unit comprises a gasoline engine and a gear reduction unit that is driven by the engine, the reduction unit having a splined output shaft that is adapted to be connected to the self-unloading wagon to power its conveyor. The engine drives the gear reduction unit through a normally loose belt, and a clutch is provided that takes the slack out of the belt when the clutch is engaged. The belt pulley for the gear reduction unit has a brake disc connected to it which coacts with a caliper brake. The brake is actuated by the clutch when the latter is disengaged and operates to hold the brake disc and its pulley against rotation.

Abstract: A decorative table combination includes a transparent top supported above a base, and a marine or aquatic creature figure representing a duck, beaver, whale, etc. To create the illusion that the creature is swimming or floating, with the transparent top representing the surface of the creature's habitat, the figure is cut at its natural water line. An upper portion of the figure is supported on the table top, and a lower portion, representing the submerged legs and feet, e.g., of the swimming or floating creature, is supported on the under surface of the table top, directly beneath the upper portion. The two portions can be joined magnetically across the table top. Supports for the table can be fashioned to resemble submerged driftwood, tree branches, or lily pad stems, with suitable continuation members on the table top to give the illusion that the support members break the water's surface.
Abstract: A rotating welding fixture for holding a pipe fitting against a welding table so that socket welds can be fabricated in one continuous operation. A locking dowel is passed into an opening in the fitting and the fitting locked between the table top and the dowel so that the entire weld region is fully exposed to the welding rod. The table is rotatably supported in a base so that the work can be turned past the welding rod to complete the weld without having to break the weld bead.
Abstract: An apparatus for removing tubes from a tube sheet, wherein the tube to be removed is engaged from the side of the tube with the force for withdrawing the tube being applied against the outer peripheral surface of the tube by a tube-pulling device which, when in operative engagement with the tube to be removed, is positioned parallel to the tube and engages the outer peripheral surface thereof. A selectively actuable reciprocating hydraulic cylinder provides gripping engagement with the tube to incrementally retract the tube relative to the extracting apparatus, while continuously maintaining a positive engagement with the tube throughout the removal operation.
