Abstract: In some embodiments, an electrical power delivery system including: (a) a base having: (1) a first surface; and (2) a second surface spaced apart from the first surface by a first sidewall; (b) a platform extending away from the second surface of the base, the platform having a third surface spaced apart from the second surface by a second sidewall; (c) a first electrical power outlet at the third surface; (d) a second electrical power outlet at the second sidewall; and (e) an electrical power cord. The first electrical power outlet and the second electrical power outlet are electrically coupled to the electrical power cord such that the first electrical power outlet and the second electrical power outlet receive electrical power from the electrical power cord when the electrical power cord receives electrical power.
Abstract: A system for interfacing with an audio player comprises a housing (110, 410) containing a first connector (111, 411), a transmission device (120, 420) including a second connector (121, 421) capable of removable engagement with the first connector, a power interface (130, 430) electrically coupled to the housing, and an audio interface (140, 440) electrically coupled to the housing and capable of being coupled to the audio player. The transmission device is connectable both to the housing and to the audio player directly, and is capable of transmitting an audio signal generated by the audio player to a playback device such as a radio.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods for reducing ?-amyloid deposition, ?-amyloid neurotoxicity and microgliosis in animals or humans afflicted with a cerebral amyloidogenic disease, such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), by administering therapeutically effective amounts of the dihydropyridine calcium channel antagonist, nilvadipine. The present invention also provides methods for diagnosing cerebral amyloidogenic diseases in animals or humans. Further provided are methods for reducing the risk of ?-amyloid deposition, ?-amyloid neurotoxicity and microgliosis in animals or humans suffering from traumatic brain injury by administering nilvadipine immediately after the traumatic brain injury and continuing treatment for a prescribed period of time thereafter.
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for facilitating metabolic control in a subject by decreasing the level of Il-1? in the GCF. The present invention further provides methods for decreasing the level of circulating TNF in a subject. Also provided are uses of anti-inflammatory agents in these methods.

Abstract: An improved more comprehensive understanding of tumors is disclosed including a precise molecular etiology leading to tumor cell growth. The disclosed molecular etiology explains the lack of control of tumor cell growth as well as the activation of a variety of phenotypic and pathological molecular mechanisms that are the natural result of the disclosed tumor etiology. A comprehensive approach to the detection and treatment of neoplasia is also disclosed.
Abstract: An improved aircraft instrument flight display system employs primary and secondary video graphics processors for generating graphics video imaging information. Both the primary and secondary video graphics processors have associated potential failure threads and are preferably chosen to have different potential failure .threads so that the same failure problem will not have a tendency to occur in both of the video graphics processors. The primary video graphics processor generates a graphical display of the aircraft flight information for use by the flight crew in operating the aircraft. The system also includes a video switch for switching between the primary and secondary video graphics processors under control of the integrity checking processor based on the integrity of the graphical display provided by the primary video graphics processor.

Abstract: In some embodiments, an adapter is configured to couple an electrical component to a slot in a host device. The electrical component can have at least three sides. The adapter including: (a) a first housing piece configured to be coupled to two or more sides of the at least three sides of the electrical component when the adapter is coupled to the electrical component; and (b) a second housing piece coupled to the first housing piece and configured to couple to a first side of the at least three sides of the electrical component. When the adapter is coupled to the electrical component, a portion of the second housing piece can be configured to be located inside the slot in the host device along with the electrical component. When the adapter is coupled to the electrical component and the portion of the second housing piece is located inside the slot in the host device, the first housing piece can be located outside of the slot. Other embodiments are disclosed in this application.
Abstract: An attachment mechanism for use with a portable electronic device (101) includes a case (110) having a first surface (211) and a second surface (111), where the first surface and the second surface define therebetween a space (105) capable of receiving the portable electronic device. The attachment mechanism further includes a clip (120) attached to the second surface of the case. Abstract: The present invention provides a process for producing a target fermentation product. This process includes providing a fermentation medium containing a recombinantly-produced microorganism that over-produces a fermentation product and contains a mutation which causes auxotrophic growth of the microorganism wherein the auxotrophy within the microorganism does not compromise the ability of the microorganism to produce the fermentation product. The medium is then supplied in excess with all substrates required for production of the fermentation product and in growth limiting amounts with a substrate complementing the auxotrophy. Host cells, vectors, and polynucleotide sequences used in the process are also provided. The polynucleotide sequences of the present invention include sequences derived from the biotin operon of B. subtilis and in particular the bioFDB gene cassette.
