Abstract: Polyethylene terephthalate molding compositions characterized by rapid crystallization are provided by combining polyethylene terephthalate and a filler or reinforcing agent with a crystallization-rate promoter comprising sodium benzoate and a poly-alpha-olefin such as low density polyethylene. A flame retardant material is provided by the addition of flame retardant additives.

Abstract: Improved metal dissolution rates are obtained when using a solution containing sulfuric acid, hydrogen peroxide and a catalytic amount of pyrrolidone such as 2-pyrrolidone or N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone.
Abstract: Improved metal dissolution rates are obtained when using a solution containing sulfuric acid, hydrogen peroxide and a catalytic amount of a glycol ether such as diethylene glycol butyl ether or ethylene glycol butyl ether.
Abstract: Improved metal dissolution rates are obtained when using a solution containing sulfuric acid, hydrogen peroxide and a catalytic amount of .epsilon.-caprolactam.
Abstract: Improved metal dissolution rates are obtained when using a solution containing sulfuric acid, hydrogen peroxide and a catalytic amount of a furan derivative such as tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol or tetrahydrofuran.
Abstract: Improved metal dissolution rates are obtained when using a solution containing sulfuric acid, hydrogen peroxide and a catalytic amount of a lactone such as .gamma.-butyrolactone, .epsilon.-caprolactone or .gamma.valerolactone.
Abstract: Liquid antimony organic sulfur-containing compounds are rendered stable at ambient conditions by incorporating an effective amount of an ethoxylated organo phosphate ester. The stable liquid compositions contribute to the stability of vinyl halide resins.

Abstract: A method for removing copper contaminants from acid electroplating baths comprising adding to the bath sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate. The presence of the sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate overcomes overall plating haze and low current density dullness due to copper contamination in the acid tin bath.
Abstract: A composite plastic material having improved shielding against electromagnetic interference is provided by injection molding a molding compound comprising elongated granules obtained by incorporating into a thermoplastic resin matrix metallized glass fibers together with carbon fibers.
Abstract: A process for the suspension polymerization of vinyl chloride, in the presence of a redox catalyst system consisting of a peroxyester or diacyl peroxide and an isoascorbic acid ester of a carboxylic acid.
Abstract: A procedure is provided for the production of clean, dustless particulate granules from dusty, dirty particles by treatment with a composition comprising a liquid polymeric substance, illustratively, epoxidized soybean oil, and a solid, low molecular weight polymer having a melting point in the range of about 95.degree. to 105.degree. C., illustratively, a polyethylene vinyl acetate copolymer in the proportions of from 1 part of solid polymer to 1 part of liquid polymeric substance to 2 parts of solid polymer to 1 part of liquid polymeric substance. In one modification of the procedure, the ingredients were charged to a Papenmeir mixer and the mixer was run at 1500 RPM until a temperature of 95.degree. C. was reached. The resulting product comprised clean, dustless uniform beads.

Abstract: Polyethylene terephthalate molding compositions characterized by rapid crystallization are provided by combining polyethylene terephthalate and a filler or reinforcing agent with a crystallization-rate promoter comprising neopentyl dibenzoate.
Abstract: Metallic salts of higher molecular weight fatty acids are produced in a continuous process by feeding fatty acid and base into a plug flow reactor to maintain a residence time of about 2 to about 60 minutes at a temperature of about 75.degree. F. to about 280.degree. F. to obtain a metallic salt, then grinding the metallic salt in a hammer mill to obtain coarse particles and then grinding the coarse particles in a jet mill to obtain fine particles of the metallic salt. Optionally, the fatty acid and base may be fed initially into a stirred-tank reactor to maintain a residence time of about 10 to about 80 minutes at a temperature of from about 115.degree. F. to about 300.degree. F. to initiate metallic salt reaction before feeding the metallic salt reaction mixture into the plug flow reactor.
Abstract: A composition for stripping solder and tin from a copper substrate having an extended life is provided by the inclusion of a polyacrylamide in a peroxide-fluoride based stripping composition. The presence of the polyacrylamide minimizes the adverse effect of the stripping composition on the copper substrate of the material undergoing treatment.
Abstract: A process for the bulk or suspension polymerization of vinyl chloride, in the presence of a redox catalyst system consisting of a peroxyester or diacyl peroxide, a stannous or antimony (III) carboxylate and a complexing agent.
Abstract: A vinyl halide resin stabilizer composition which essentially contains:(a) a calcium, zinc or mixed calcium/zinc salt of a higher fatty acid;(b) a polyhydroxy alcohol component wherein at least 50% of this component is either di-or tri-pentaerythritol; and(c) a magnesium compound, particularly magnesium hydroxide or magnesium acetateThese compositions synergistically contribute to the heat stability of vinyl halide resin compositions and offer significant heat stabilization economies. Early color as well as long term heat stability performances of the metal salt compounds are improved in the compositions disclosed thereby permitting the reduction in amounts of such compounds needed for stabilization.
