  • Patent number: 7958955
Abstract: An automotive device for the inspection of internal spaces having ferromagnetic surfaces includes at least two magnetic wheels (3) or caterpillars, or at least two magnetic legs for the advancement of the device along the surfaces to be inspected. According to the invention, the device includes actively powered rotating arms (1) attached to a wheel (3), caterpillar, or leg of the device. Each rotating arm (1) has a length longer than the shortest distance between the point of attachment of the rotating arm to the device and the surface. When the device is in a position, where there is magnetic contact to the surface in two or more points and the device is no longer able to advance due to the strength of the magnetic forces, the rotating arms are brought into non-magnetic contact with the surface in order to create an air gap between the surface and the magnetic wheel and thus reduce the magnetic forces. The device is thereby enabled to overcome the magnetic forces and advance the device along the surface.

  • Patent number: 7868782
Abstract: An electronic electric meter for use in a networked automatic meter reading environment. The meter includes a meter microcontroller, a measurement microcontroller, a communication microcontroller and spread spectrum processor, and a plurality of other communication interface modules for communicating commodity utilization and power quality data to a utility. The meter measures electricity usage and monitors power quality parameters for transmission to the utility over a spread spectrum local area network (LAN) to a remotely located gateway node. The gateway node transmits this data to the utility over a commercially available fixed wide area network (WAN). The meter also provides direct communication to the utility over a commercially available network interface that plugs into the meter's backplane or bus system, bypassing the local area network communication link and gateway node.

  • Patent number: 7635136
Abstract: A method of propelling a wheeled platform, which includes creating a source of energy upon a first change in orientation of the platform around an axis approximately parallel to a longitudinal axis of the platform and wherein the platform rotates around the axis. The source of energy is stored and released to propel the wheeled platform upon a second change in orientation of the platform around the axis.

  • Patent number: 7556300
Abstract: A finger unit of a robot hand has a first rotational actuator, a first finger joint part, a first finger linkage, a second finger joint part, and a second finger linkage that are connected in this order. A second rotational actuator is attached to the first finger linkage. The first finger linkage swivels about the first finger joint part by the first rotational actuator, and the second finger linkage swivels about the second finger joint part by the second rotational actuator. The second rotational actuator is attached to the first finger linkage so as to be in a slantwise orientation relative to a straight line connecting a center of rotation of the first finger joint part and a center of rotation of the second finger joint part. With this configuration, an axial length of the finger unit of a robot hand can be shortened.

  • Patent number: 7459846
Abstract: Provided is a red phosphor represented by formula 1: (Li(2-z)-xMx)(MoO4)y:Euz,Smq??(1) where M is an element selected from K, Mg, Na, Ca, Sr, and Ba, 0?x?2, 0.5?y?5, 0.01?z?1.5, and 0.001?q?1.0. The red phosphor has emission characteristics such as high brightness when excited by, in particular, an excitation light source of around 405 nm. The red phosphor is 6 times brighter than conventional phosphors. Furthermore, the red phosphor can be used in a red light emitting diode (LED) that has a UV excitation light source, a white LED, and an active dynamic liquid crystal device (LCD). In addition, the white LED using the red phosphor has a color rendering index of 90 or greater and so has excellent color rendition.
