  • Patent number: 8341925
Abstract: A method of packing and, for purposes of extending its shelf-life, heat treating a food product in a packaging container of paper or paperboard. The packaging container is first filled wholly or at least partly with foam containing a non-oxidizing gas, such as nitrogen, whereafter the wholly or partly filled packaging container is filled with the pertinent food product. After this filling, the packaging container is, where necessary, filled with additional foam to ensure the headspace above the product level in the packaging container is entirely filled with foam when the packaging container is closed and sealed by thermosealing. The closed packaging container filled with product and foam is thereafter subjected to the heat treatment for purposes of extending its shelf-life at a treatment temperature of at least 115° C.

  • Patent number: 8345808
Abstract: An exemplary method is disclosed to accurately estimate the center frequency of a narrow-band interference (NBI). The exemplary method uses multi-stage autocorrelation-function (ACF) to estimate an NBI frequency. The exemplary method allows an accurate estimation of the center frequency of NBI in an Ultra-Wideband system. A narrow band interference (NBI) estimator based on such a method allows a low complexity hardware implementation. The exemplary method estimates the frequency in multiple stages. Each stage performs an ACF operation on the received signals. The first stage gives an initial estimation and the following stages refine the estimation. The results of all stages are combined to produce the final estimation. An apparatus based on such a multi-stage narrow band interference frequency detector is also disclosed to improve the accuracy by combining various filters with the detector.

  • Patent number: 8346404
Abstract: A Substation Automation (SA) system in high or medium voltage power networks is provided for determining a bus bar voltage at a first node. The disclosure replaces a ‘real’ voltage transformer with an intelligent electronic device (IED) and/or a ‘virtual’ voltage transformer (VT), which determines the bus bar voltage at the first node from a first bay connected to the first node. The IED receives network message from a second IED of the SA system, indicating the bay voltage of the first bay connected to the first node. The IED also receives switch status of the switching device arranged between the first bay and the first node, from a third IED. Depending upon the switch status, the IED establishes the bay voltage as the bus bar voltage at the first node.
