The straps extend through slots in a pair of substantially planar handles. The free ends of the straps are secured in looped engagement with the handles by snap fasteners.

Abstract: An attache case having a slot through one of its walls closed by a spring-loaded internal shutter. Articles may thereby be placed into the attache case without opening the main lid.

Abstract: A readily mountable and demountable car top boat carrier. The carrier includes a cradle portion on the car top which carries a boat secured thereto and a ramp comprising a pair of folding rails which extend downwardly from the car top cradle when unfolded to permit a boat to be easily slid between the cradle and the water surface by a single person. The rails are individually adjustable for differences in bottom depth and fold into a compact storage position when not in use.

Abstract: A disposable two part filter assembly for use on the detachable tip of a laboratory pipette. It comprises a body member with an opening shaped and sized to engage the tip. Such body members may be provided for a wide range of tip sizes and shapes. Inserted within each of the body members is a filter element. The filter elements have essentially the same size and shape but may differ as to material and porosity.

Abstract: A test body is provided for determining an operating characteristic of a tomographic apparatus of the type that scans a human body member with an X-ray beam along an edge of a slice through the member, accumulates data in electrical form which is representative of the variations in the intensity of X-ray transmission through the body during a plurality of scans and reconstructs a cross sectional image of the slice from the accumulated data. The body comprises an energy absorption means which is arranged in a predetermined configuration and is adapted for absorbing electromagnetic energy from an impinging X-ray beam. The body also includes support means for positioning the energy absorbing means between a scanning X-ray beam and a detector of the apparatus.

Abstract: A combination racket press and cover which is formed from two identical molded plastic halves. Integrally molded into each half are ribs aligned in the same geometry as the members of a conventional press. The two halves are held in place on opposite sides of a racket head by means of quick release fasteners.

Abstract: A hinged ring for supporting the open top of a flexible bag. The ring is formed by two semicircular ring members hinged to be positioned between either of an open circular configuration and a folded configuration. A combination latch and handle member is mounted on one of the ring members and serves to latchingly engage the other ring member when folded, while also serving as a carrying handle. When the ring is open, the same latch member functions as a hook to support the ring and bag on an external surface.

Abstract: A device for generating isometric control signals in three axes is formed of a shaft having opposed pairs of strain gauges mounted thereon at angles to the shaft axis. One end of the shaft is fixed and the opposite free end is operable by the fingers. Electrical circuitry for combining the signals to produce useful outputs is also disclosed.

Abstract: A method of forming a pair of identical spherical mirrors having their centers of curvature separated in space. A blank having substantially parallel planar front and rear surfaces is provided. The front surface is scored to divide it into two surface segments. The entire front surface is then ground to a spherical shape. Abstract: A multiple capacitor and method for making the same. A single capacitor section is wound in the usual manner from two metallized films. After the winding has progressed through the proper number of turns for one of the capacitors, the metallized layer is removed from the surface of at least one film over a selected distance. An insulated sheet having a length sufficient to encircle the capacitor at least once is inserted between the film layers to extend beyond at least one end of the wound cylinder. The ends of two additional dielectric strips are inserted into the capacitor winding between the metallized films. Winding is then completed and each end of the wound section is metal plated. Leads are then attached to the ends of the capacitor section, resulting in a plurality of capacitors having different voltage ratings but wound within a single capacitor section.

Abstract: A test circuit for use with a boiler control circuit. A test switch and a lamp are connected between ground and a water level electrode. In the presence of a water path, a sufficient potential drop exists between ground and the electrode to light the lamp when the test switch is closed. If a ground or short exists, the lamp will not light.

Abstract: An improvement in the method of assembling a pair of windows and a spacer by amalgamation to form a sampling cell. The improvement comprises evaporatively depositing a thin layer of metal on each of the windows prior to amalgamating them with the spacer.

Abstract: A noise reduction barrier is formed by connecting together a plurality of prefabricated vertically oriented panel members so configured that a hollow tubular wall is formed between opposed panels. The space between panels is filled with sand or loose earth which provides the mass to make the structure sound retardant. In alternative embodiments, for increased sound absorption, perforated sheet material may be secured to the outer edges of the barrier wall and the interstices filled with rock wool or similar porous material.

Abstract: There is disclosed a wound capacitor which is designed to open an external circuit upon capacitor failure. This is accomplished by dividing the foil at each end of the capacitor into two regions. A lead is then connected to each region so that the completed capacitor has a total of four leads. The two leads at each end of the capacitor become a part of the external circuit. A capacitor failure thereby causes an open in the external circuit.
