    Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to reduce the abrasion at a pressure receiving portion of the cylinder block, without increasing the manufacturing cost, even when the outer rings of a bearing are jointly rotated and eccentrically fluctuated. The cylinder blocks are made of aluminum alloy comprising, by weight, 1.5 to 3.5% of Cu, 13 to 16% of Si, 0.5% or less of Mg, 1.0% or less of Zn, 1.0% or less of Fe and the remainder of Al. The matrix, except for primary Si crystal, is relatively soft. Primary Si crystals which each independently project from the pressure receiving portions tend to be pushed into the base material by the outer rings of the thrust bearings, so that the levels of primary Si crystals are easily made to be approximately uniform.

    Abstract: A new immunotherapy to cancer patients is provided. In the therapy, lymphocytes collected from a patient by leukopheresis are treated with interferon-.alpha. in vitro for a short period of term and then returned to the patient intravenously. According to the therapy, reduction in sensitivity of tumor cells to natural killer-cell lysis due to administration of interferon-.alpha. is eliminated, the activities of NK cell and 2-5AS and interferon-producing capacity can be enhanced, a large amount of lymphocytes can be activated directly in vitro with the dose of optimally adjusted to the patient, none of side effects are found, and any other potentiators and comodulaators, which may not be allowed to use in vivo, can be added to the lymphocytes and removed therefrom before returning to the patient.

    Abstract: The viscous type heat generator includes a housing having a heating chamber and a heat radiating chamber. A rotor is rotatably arranged in the heating chamber so that a viscous fluid is subjected to a shearing action to generate heat. The rotor is fitted on a drive shaft in such a manner that the rotor can not rotate but can move axially relative to the drive shaft. The front and rear end surfaces of the rotor have wedge effect producing means for correcting an axial offset of the rotor in the heating chamber by the wedge effect caused by the pressure of viscous fluid while the rotor is rotating. This wedge effect producing means comprises at least three inclined recesses extending in the circumferential direction, the bottoms of which become gradually shallower in the direction opposite to the rotational direction of the rotor. The inclined recesses are arranged at circumferentially regular intervals and at radially equal positions from the center of the rotor.

    Abstract: A climate controller for an automobile, comprising a compressor and a receiver arranged in an engine compartment of the automobile, a condenser located at an outside-air inlet of the engine compartment, an expansion member and an evaporator disposed in a passenger compartment of the automobile, and a closed-loop refrigerant passage connecting the compressor, the condenser, the receiver, the expansion member and the evaporator in sequence for circulating a refrigerant through these components to establish a refrigerating cycle. The climate controller further includes a valve arranged in a part of the closed-loop refrigerant passage extending from the evaporator through the compressor to the condenser. The valve is actuated to intersect a communication of the refrigerant through the part of the passage when an operation affecting temperature of both the compressor and the condenser becomes ineffective, and to allow the communication when the operation becomes effective.
