    Abstract: The method according to the present invention comprises purification of 2,2'-di-(1,6,7-trihydroxy-3-methyl-5-isopropyl-8-naphthaldehyde) by crystallization from a solution thereof in diethyl ether with a concentration of 0.002-0.2 g/ml by adding 0.25-3 parts of hexane by volume (of diethyl ether) keeping the mixture at a temperature of from 10.degree. to 30.degree. C., separation of the resulting precipitate and drying thereof to give the desired product.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to the art of agriculture. The method of sterilizing anthers of plants comprises treatment of the plants with a sterilizing agent in combination with a diluent during the period of the fifth and/or sixth stage of organogenesis. According to the invention, as the sterilizing agent use is made of derivatives of phosphoric acids of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R is H, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, dimethylamine, wherein X is O, NH; B is H, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, phenyl, D is H, CH.sub.3 ; A is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, phenyl furyl; R' is OH, ONH.sub.4, OAlk(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4), phenyl; R.sup.2 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, NaNH.sub.4, NH.sub.3 Alk(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4), NH.sub.2 Alk.sub.2 (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4), or mixtures thereof. The method according to the present invention is useful in selection and seed production.
