Abstract: A radiocommunication system is described in which DC offset and other slowly varying disturbances which that may impact a signal are suppressed. Exemplary embodiments of the present invention combine a difference circuit, e.g., a FIR filter, with a maximum likelihood sequence estimator, e.g., a Viterbi detector, to implement suppression techniques on binary signals.
Abstract: A holder for a machine tool includes a cone-shaped base body. One end of the base body has a larger diameter than the other end and includes an annular flange extending therearound. The flange includes first and second recesses formed therein. Each recess includes a bottom surface. The first and second recesses respectively form identical first distances from the bottom surface to an outer periphery of the flange. One of the recesses includes a hole. A depth-reducing element is securable in the hole such that an outer surface of the element is disposed between the bottom surface and the outer periphery, wherein an effective depth of the recess having the depth-reducing element is shorter than an effective depth of the other recess.
Abstract: An educational method and system for executing the method, to improve the efficiency of individual learning by monitoring the student's progress and pacing the course material to the student's ability to comprehend and learn. This method and system also reduces the teachers's administrative and paperwork burden. Interactive multimedia technology is combined with unique courseware development to provide a flexible teaching tool and student monitoring system.
Abstract: A camera has a release button, a shutter which operates upon depression the release button, light emitting diode that emits light used to record information on the film, a power source, a switch that closes in response to the operation of the release button to provide power to the light emitting diode, the switch having a first contact point connected to the power source and a second contact point connected to the light emitting diode, and a selecting member movably supported between a first position at which the selecting member prevents the closing of the first and second contact points and a second position at which the selecting member does not prevent the closing of the first and second contact points.
Abstract: A process for producing single crystals with little OSF generation and excellent dielectric strength of gate oxide films by adjusting the temperature gradient of the silicon single crystal in the direction of pulling. The process is carried out with an apparatus including a crucible which contains the melt of the single crystal material, a heating element which heats the melt, a pulling shaft to grow the single crystal, a protective gas inlet pipe, and a chamber which contains all above mentioned components. In addition, the apparatus is provided with a circular cylinder or a conical shaped heat resistant and heat insulating component below the protective gas inlet pipe.
Abstract: A gripping head for loading packages into a crate is disclosed having a number of support members attached to a frame. The support members each have a predetermined number of pneumatically operated suction cups for gripping packages that are intended for loading into a crate. Two of the support members are capable of pivoting movement on the frame in response to vertical movement of a center support member so as to allow the gripping head to deposit the packages into the crate in a manner that is economical and that allows efficient use of the crate space.
