  • Patent number: 8229598
Abstract: A calculating member carries out Fourier analysis of a vibrational acceleration to calculate a maximum acceleration and frequency thereof. The calculating member then compares the maximum acceleration with a threshold value, and when the acceleration exceeds the threshold value, the calculating member calculates a k-value and phase information, and stores each calculated value. When retrying is selected, the calculating member determines a type of a current chatter vibration from the phase information, determines the existence of a chatter vibration which is different from the determined chatter vibration, and calculates each new phase information according to the determined chatter vibration and an existence of a different chatter vibration which had been generated before generation of the current vibration. The calculating member then calculates a k1-value from new phase information, calculates the optimum rotation speed by using the k1-value, and changes the rotation speed to the optimum rotation speed.

  • Patent number: 8227099
Abstract: This radio-frequency oscillator includes a magnetoresistive device in which a spin-polarized electric current flows. This device comprises a stack of at least a first so-called “anchored” magnetic layer having a fixed magnetization direction, a second magnetic layer, an amagnetic layer inserted between the above-mentioned two layers, intended to ensure magnetic decoupling of said layers. The oscillator also comprises means of causing a flow of electrons in said layers perpendicular to these layers and, if applicable, of applying an external magnetic field to the structure. The second magnetic layer has an excitation damping factor at least 10% greater than the damping measured in a simple layer of the same material having the same geometry for magnetic excitation having wavelengths equal to or less than the extent of the cone or cylinder of current that flows through the stack that constitutes the magnetoresistive device.

  • Patent number: 8210011
Abstract: A continuous repetitive method of rolling a series combination of asymmetric rolling and skin pass rolling operations is provided. Differential-speed rolling is performed as the asymmetric rolling, and a winder temporarily winds a metal strip with a collapsed plate shape by traverse winding (loose winding which allows the metal strip to be wound in a zigzag manner). Then, the skin pass rolling is performed, and orderly winding is performed in a coil form. In the flow of rolling, tandem rolling may be performed by arranging two or more rolling mills side by side so that the asymmetric rolling and the skin pass rolling operations are continuously performed without the traverse winding therebetween.

  • Patent number: 8211328
Abstract: A crystallographically-oriented ceramic containing Pb and in which piezoelectric/electrostrictive properties can be enhanced. Using a raw material having Pb(Zr1-xTiX)O3 as a main component, a ceramic sheet was formed with a thickness of 15 ?m or less. In this material, grains were allowed to grow into an anisotropic shape, and crystal grains with specific crystal planes being aligned were produced. A non-oriented raw material having Pb(Zr1-xTiX)O3 as a main component and the crystal grains were mixed, and shaping was performed so that crystal grains were oriented in a predetermined direction. The shaped body was fired. In the resulting ceramic, the degree of orientation was high at 50% or more. It is possible to enhance the degree of orientation using, as crystal nuclei, a ceramic sheet which can have the same composition as that of the crystallographically-oriented ceramic. Therefore, production can be performed without adding an unnecessary element, for example, for orienting crystals.
