Abstract: A flexible artificial fishing lure comprising a lure body and a pair of legs extending from the lure body, wherein each leg has an upper leg portion attached to the lure body and a lower leg portion extending rearward of the upper leg portion. Each lower leg portion tapers inwardly such that the thickness of each lower leg portion gradually decreases from an outer edge toward an inner edge. According to this design, the lower leg portions have greater weight along the outer edge than along the inner edge. In operation, the lower leg portions move multi-dimensionally as the lure is pulled through the water, thereby creating substantial motion and concomitant vibrations for attracting fish.
Abstract: A safety coil sling for securing an industrial metal coil on a flatbed trailer having a round or elliptical primary cable attached at one end to a first anchoring chain and at an opposite end to a second anchoring chain, and a plurality of connecting cables for connecting opposite sides of the primary cable across the top of the coil, thereby securing the coil on the trailer. In an alternate embodiment, the primary cable is divided into parallel segments at the points of attachment of the connecting cables and the connecting cables are slidably attached to one of the parallel segments to allow the connecting cables to slide within a fixed area, thus providing a mechanism for relieving tension on the sling during weight shifts within the coil occurring during transport.
Abstract: A belt for weight reduction having a buckle that fits over the abdomen and stomach, the buckle having one or more air bladders with pressure sensors, an air pump, and a massager. The air bladders are maintained at a constant pressure as signals from the pressure sensors activate the air pump to fill or deflate the air bladder. The constant pressure applied chronically to the abdomen reduces hunger and food intake to produce weight loss. Activation of the massager helps to further control hunger between meals.
Abstract: A brush for grooming, brushing, cleaning, fluffing, and combing the tail, limb, or paw of an animal. The grooming brush has a pair of opposing semi-circular brushes on a scissors-like hand operated device. The semicircular brushes are placed around the base of the tail, limb, or paw of an animal and closed together with the scissors-like device to form a circular brush around the tail, limb, or paw. The brush is then moved to the extremity of the tail, limb, or paw to fluff, brush, clean, groom, and comb the hair.
Abstract: The present invention provides a transport rack for use in securing cargo in a transport vehicle. The transport rack preferably comprises a frame assembly mounted to a support surface at a lower end of a pair of telescoping legs, and to opposing sidewalls at the distal end of a pair of telescoping arms. The transport rack further comprises a clamping assembly mounted to the frame assembly, wherein the clamping assembly has a rotatable shaft, at least two hook members mounted to the shaft for rotation between an open position and a clamped position, and a fixed arm member mounted subjacent each of the at least two hook members. The present invention further comprises means for selectively changing the height of the clamping assembly above the support surface, and means for selectively varying the distance between the hook members.
Abstract: A game for stimulating interest in reading has a game board with coded spaces arranged in a circular path and a written story with consecutive portions. Players are given a fixed number of points and read a first portion of the story. They roll dice to determine the number of spaces they advance from a starting point on the circular path. Each player makes a prediction as to what occurs next in the story if the player lands on a space that instructs the player to make a prediction. One or more players making a wrong prediction lose a point (game card). The process is repeated for each portion of the story until the story is completely read, wherein the winner of the game is the player having the most points (game cards).
Abstract: A structural vent assembly comprising a back member having a forward surface and a rear surface; a mount member adapted to be secured to the support structure between the roof deck and the support structure, the mount member having a proximal end fixedly attached to the rear surface; a front member having an outer surface and an inner surface; and means for connecting the forward surface to the inner surface in spaced apart relationship to form a passage for air flow therebetween, the passage having an upper end and a lower end communicating with the air space of the roof deck.
Abstract: A durable sealing curtain assembly preferably comprising a pair of tracks slidably attached to opposite sides of an opening such as a door or window, a curtain having its lateral edges engaged by the tracks, and spring systems attached to each track, whereby the spring systems urge the tracks outwardly to maintain the curtain taut yet allow the tracks to slide inwardly towards the center of the opening so that the curtain does not endure excessive pressure upon application of an external force. At least one track preferably also comprises a cam mechanism that is operative to urge the track inwardly to release tension from the curtain and thereby allow the curtain to be more easily raised or lowered, after which, the cam mechanism can be disengaged to allow the track to return to its outwardly biased position, thus returning the curtain to a taut condition.
Abstract: An impact barrier system comprising a plurality of bow-shaped panels attached to a retaining wall in overlapping side-by-side relationship that, together with the configuration of the panels, provides a plurality of impact absorbing features that work together to absorb the impact of a vehicle and transfer the force of the impact across multiple panels. The panels are resilient and predisposed to assume their original configuration after the impact.
Abstract: An assembly for felling a segment of a tree trunk in a safe and controlled manner and method of using the same. The assembly comprises a vertical support structure having an elongated base portion, an elongated mast portion connected to the base portion or integrally formed therewith and having at least a portion extending upwardly therefrom, and a horizontal lip extending from the base or integrally formed therewith for contacting engagement with a conventional notch formed in the trunk. The method of felling a tree trunk comprises positioning the tree felling assembly along the trunk, cutting a conventional notch in the trunk below the assembly, the notch having a lower surface, repositioning the assembly along the trunk so that the lip is in contacting engagement with at least a portion of the lower surface, securing the assembly to the trunk below the segment, cutting the segment from the trunk, and lowering the segment from the trunk along a take-away cable operatively engaging the assembly.
Abstract: A planar wound dressing for the heel of the foot, having an adhesive layer with a backing layer, and three slits which can be reversibly closed and joined to form a non-planar wound dressing that conforms to and adheres to the heel of the foot. The wound dressing is constructed so that one slit is placed over the Achilles tendon, the second slit is placed over the inner ankle, and the third slit is placed over the outer ankle. With this orientation after closure of the slits the wound dressing covers the heel uniformly without wrinkles, gaps, leakage, contamination, or infection. The wound dressing is particularly useful in protecting and preventing blisters on the heel that occur in sports such as soccer, track, and the like.
Abstract: An adzer mount assembly having a slider box with a vertical slider and horizontal sliders. The vertical slider has an adzer which can be precisely positioned over a crosstie by hydraulic transverse movement of the slider box and vertical movement of the vertical slider. Because the horizontal sliders are mounted firmly to the frame of a railroad adzer machine the adzer is maintained firmly in a precise position over the crosstie during cutting, allowing precision planeing and surfacing of the crosstie.
