Abstract: A method of terminating, under emergency conditions, an olefin Polymerization reaction conducted in the presence of a transitioned metal based catalyst in a gas phase reactor by using a recycle gas from the reactor or a feed stream to the reactor to operate an expander associated with a circulator which maintains fluidized conditions in the reactor while introducing a kill gas into the reactor to terminate the reaction.
