  • Patent number: 4640978
Abstract: A method of sealing electrical fittings is provided. The method comprises foaming in situ a removable, flame retardant, solvent resistant, substantially closed cell isocyanurate foam. The isocyanurate foam is prepared from a two-part, liquid, foamable, curable composition, the parts being mixed at the time of application, the composition comprising, in a first part, a prereaction product of an isocyanate and a polyol, and, in a second part, catalyst, chain extending agent, flame retardant agent, and blowing agent. Also provided are an electrical fitting and cable duct or riser sealed with the isocyanurate foam.

  • Patent number: 4631933
Abstract: A thermal insulating fabric is described. The fabric is a stitch-bonded, fibrous, nonwoven web of microfibers that average about 10 micrometers or less in diameter.

  • Patent number: 4625983
Abstract: A non-woven, non-tufted skeletal mass of fibrous members in a mat-like structure for reducing liquid splash and/or spray in a region likely to be subjected to liquid impact is provided. The mat-like structure contains 75-98 percent by volume of voids and is particularly useful on motor vehicles as a material for mud flaps, mud guard lining, and wheel valances. The mat-like structure may be provided with a gutter or deflector so that water draining from the skeletal structure is deflected to one side. The mat-like structure may be made by needle-puching a fibrous web and the fibrous members may randomly be bonded to each other by use of an adhesive or welds.

  • Patent number: 4606737
Abstract: Fluorochemical allophanates containing one or more monovalent fluoroaliphatic radicals having at least three fully fluorinated terminal carbon atoms and one or more allophanate moieties, the radicals and moieties bonded together by hetero atom-containing or organic linking groups are provided. These fluorochemical allophanates are useful in the form of aqueous dispersions or emulsions or organic solutions in the treatment of fibrous substrates, such as textile fibers, to impart oil and water repellency.

  • Patent number: 4599265
Abstract: A roll of pressure-sensitive adhesive tape, the adhesive layer of which is an alkyl acrylate polymer which is low-tack and yet sufficiently tacky to adhere reliably to ordinary substrates but, by virtue of being crosslinked and nearly free from polar substituents, it is readily peelable from those substrates after prolonged dwell.

  • Patent number: RE32249
Abstract: A linerless double-coated pressure-sensitive adhesive tape of the prior art is wound directly upon itself into a roll that can later be unwound without delamination or offsetting of adhesive. The novel tape differs from the prior tape in that the pressure-sensitive adhesive at each of its faces is a substantially solvent-free, crosslinked alkyl acrylate polymer and can be aggressively tacky for uses requiring high-performance adhesion.
