Abstract: A system for controlling a computer by thoughts in the user's brain. The system applies stimuli of the brain via magnetic source imaging (MSI) for controlling the computer. Patterns of brain stimuli are recorded along with the particular thoughts that produced them and these thoughts are interpreted as functions for controlling the computer in much the same way as inputs from a keyboard or mouse. Criteria of acceptance of thought stimuli are generated by the system. Body stimuli, in addition to the brain stimuli, are monitored and used by the system. A user profile is maintained and displayed along with selected pictures for assisting with stimuli/thought pattern utilization. Artificial intelligence is used to enhance stimuli selection, human factors and reliability, as well as analyzing past errors, adverse occurrences and performance.
Abstract: A bone density meter including a light emission unit which emits light toward a surface of a user's body. A light reception unit receives the light emitted from the light emission unit toward the body surface and propagated in a portion of the body that includes bone. A bone density computation unit determines the bone density based on the amount of light received by the light reception unit. The light emission unit emits light toward the body surface at a portion having a thin subcutis, and the light reception unit receives the light propagated in the body through the portion at which the subcutis is thin.
Abstract: A security hard tag, uses an attachment clip to couple to an article, such as but not limited to clothing, to be protected and which can only be released from the article by use of an authorized detacher that is inserted into the security hard tag. The attachment clip may include various types of locking mechanisms on its two ends, one end which is permanently secured within the security hard tag housing and the other end which is releasably secured within the housing. Before being releasably secured within the housing, the one end is inserted through or around a portion of an article, or through a security tag loop attached to the article, and then that end is locked into the housing. The detacher uses a cam, either located on the detacher itself or positioned within the security hard tag housing, to interact with the one end of the attachment clip to release the locked end.

The glasses are supported where front of the frame is oriented toward the main body and the temple arms are oriented away from main body. The hinged tab provides for opening of the temple arms to allow a user to try on the glasses while the glasses remain attached to the hanger.
Abstract: The invention provides a novel antigen, MPD6, which belongs to the group of cryptic antigens without conventional genomic structure and is encoded by a cryptic open reading frame located in the 3? untranslated region (3?UTR) of myotrophin mRNA. MPD6 elicits IgG antibody responses in a subset of PV patients, as well as patients with chronic myelogenous leukemia and prostate cancer. The translation of MPD6 was mediated by a novel internal ribosome entry site (IRES) upstream of the MPD6 reading frame. Furthermore, the MPD6-IRES mediated translation, but not myotrophin-MPD6 transcription, was significantly upregulated in response to IFN-? stimulation. These findings demonstrate that a novel IRES-mediated mechanism is responsible for the translation of unconventional self-antigen MPD6 in responsive to IFN-? stimulation. The eliciting anti-tumor immune response against unconventional antigen MPD6 in patients with myeloproliferative diseases indicates MPD6 as a target of novel immunotherapy.
Abstract: A slide for a semi-automatic pistol is provided where the pistol has a frame, a slide mounted on the frame, a barrel mounted between the slide and the frame, and a magazine for feeding cartridges into the chamber of the barrel. Abstract: A mode selection mechanism for a firearm is provided including a lever having an exposed surface and an inner surface and a pivot pin and a detent pin depending from the inner surface, the pivot pin extending through a orifice in the frame, the detent pin extending generally parallel to the pivot pin. The lever is pivotable from a first position to a second position about the pivot pin, wherein the detent pin moves in an arc-shaped aperture in the frame. A flexible stop includes an open ring of spring metal and is disposed in a ring orifice in the frame. The detent pin is disposed against the flexible stop wherein, as the lever is moved from the first position to the second position, the flexible stop compresses and then uncompresses thereby creating a detent.
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel crystalline form of sunitinib malate, process for its preparation and to pharmaceutical composition containing it. The present invention also provides a process for preparation of sunitinib malate crystal form I. Thus, for example, sunitinib malate was added to water, the mixture was heated to 80 deg C. to obtain a clear solution and stirred for 30 minutes at 80 deg C., slowly cooled to room temperature and the solution was subjected to freeze drying at about ?90 deg C. for 8 hours to give sunitinib malate crystalline form III.
Abstract: A controller of a cantilever evaluation system calculates a stream function value ?z(x, y; t+1) and vorticity ?z(x, y; t+1) at a subsequent time step t+1 using boundary conditions according to displacement h(z; t) of a cantilever and velocity ?h/?t(z; t), a stream function value ?z(x, y; t) and vorticity ?z(x, y; t) in two-dimensional planes. The controller uses the calculated stream function value ?z(x, y) and vorticity ?z(x, y) to calculate a fluid drag force acting on the cantilever. The controller substitutes the calculated fluid drag force into a displacement calculation equation to calculate the displacement h(z; t+1) of the one-dimensional beam at the subsequent time step t+1. The controller repeats such calculation for each grid point and further repeats it at each time step.

Abstract: A pump for one or more different process fluids is provided including a pumping chamber having a process fluid inlet and outlet coupled to a process fluid valve on each pumping chamber for selectively preventing and allowing flow of process fluid through the pumping chamber. An actuation mechanism for pumping actuating fluid to actuating fluid chambers is provided that is in communication with the actuating fluid chambers to permit flow into each actuating fluid chamber of incompressible actuating fluid. A diaphragm separates each pumping chamber from an associated actuating fluid chamber for separating process fluid from actuating fluid. The actuation mechanism is removable by a quick disconnect that provides for disconnection of the activation mechanism without affecting process fluid. Operation of the actuation mechanism to displace actuating fluid causes actuating fluid to flow only into each actuating fluid chamber having an opened process fluid valve, resulting in pumping.
Abstract: A single use, sterile, self-contained, compact, easy to use centrifugal separation unit provides for quick, reliable platelet concentration from whole blood. Anti-coagulated blood is injected through an elastomeric seal into a separation chamber featuring a tapered barrel and an end cap. At least one port is located in the end cap, at a desired radius from the longitudinal axis. The centrifugal field created by rotation of the chamber stratifies the blood radially, with red blood cells adjacent the wall of the barrel, and plasma found closest to the longitudinal axis. Opening the port causes the pressure of the centrifugal field to eject red blood cells or plasma, thereby increasing the concentration of platelets remaining in the chamber. After ceasing chamber rotation, the concentrated platelets are recovered.
