Abstract: A drive apparatus for opening and closing a window glass provided in a door having an inner panel is disclosed. The drive apparatus includes a motor provided in the door and a regulator that receives drive force from the motor and selectively open and close the window glass. The door noise includes motor operating noise and vibration transmission noise that is generated when vibration of the motor is transmitted to the inner panel via the regulator. The motor is configured such that a first-order frequency component in vibration of the motor is greater than any other nth component (n is an integer greater than or equal to two), so that the first-order frequency component in the door noise is greater than any other nth frequency component (n is an integer greater than or equal to two).
Abstract: A smoking article includes a tobacco column, a binder surrounding the tobacco column, a first wrapper surrounding the binder, and at least one additional removable wrapper which surrounds the first wrapper and is removably secured to a wrapper beneath the additional removable wrapper. Packaging for a smoking article involves a supportive tube surrounding the smoking article and sealed in a package, where the package is made from a front and a rear sheet sealed together to form a sealed envelope.
Abstract: An intramedullary rod and system for introducing it into a longitudinally extending bore in the bone of a patient is disclosed. The system includes a guide tube, a cutter assembly and the intramedullary rod. The guide tube has a central passageway and a plurality of longitudinally extending slots and is arranged to be located within the bore in the bone. The cutter assembly includes a body member having a plurality of blades extending outward therefrom and is arranged to be moved along the central passageway of the guide tube so that the blades extend outward through the slots to produce a respective grooves in the bore of the bone of the patient.
Abstract: The invention relates to thrombospondin fragments found in plasma, their use or use of portions thereof in diagnostic methods, as method calibrators, method indicators, and as immunogens, and as analytes for methods with substantial clinical utility; and their detection in plasma or other bodily fluids for purpose of diagnostic methods, especially for cancer.
Abstract: A motor controller that outputs a drive signal to a direct-current motor to drive the motor is provided. The motor controller includes a drive circuit that generates the drive signal. The drive circuit superimposes on a direct-current voltage an alternating-current component having a frequency in the audible frequency range of the human ear, thereby generating the drive signal.
Abstract: A medical device is provided having reduced penetration force. The device includes a body having a central hollow channel and a piezoelectric transducer received within and secured to the body. The piezoelectric transducer has a hollow portion concentric with the central hollow channel. A tubular member is associated with and in communication with the piezoelectric transducer. The tubular member has at least one open end formed concentric with the central hollow channel and the hollow portion of the piezoelectric transducer, wherein the transducer is adapted for vibrating at a frequency to produce an oscillating displacement of the tubular member.

Abstract: The invention relates to an image processing device (1, 48, 51) including: several image signal inputs (2-9) for receiving a respective image input signal, the signals being unsynchronized; at least one image signal output (23-26) for emitting at least one image output signal; a combiner (22) for combining the different image input signals to form the image output signal; several synchronizers (14-21), which are respectively connected downstream of the image signal inputs (2-9) and which synchronize the unsynchronized image input signals; and several distorters or rectifiers for distorting or rectifying the individual image input signals before they are combined to form the image output signal. According to the invention, the distorters or rectifiers are formed by the individual synchronizers (14-21) and the image input signals are distorted or rectified independently of one another by one or more synchronizers (14-21). The invention also relates to an associated operating method.

Abstract: A method for reconstruction of an image function (r), which represents an object function (ƒ) of an object (1) imaged with periodically structured illumination, from optical section images (gc, gs), which are formed following convolution operations on the object function (ƒ) with a modified illumination point spread function (hI), comprises the steps of generating (S1) corrected optical section images (gc?, gs?), wherein predetermined filter operators are applied to the optical section images (gc, gs), said filter operators being the inverse of the convolution operations, and demodulation (S2) of the corrected optical section images (gc?, gs?) in order to generate the image function (r). In addition, an imaging method and an imaging apparatus are described, by means of which the aforementioned reconstruction method is applied.

Abstract: An impulse rotor generator is provided for generating power in response to a primary mud flow in a drill string. The generator comprises a power rotor, at least one stationary magnetic pickup, and a pickup coil mounted on the at least one stationary magnetic pickup. The power rotor is positioned at least in part in the primary mud flow and is rotatable in response to the primary mud flow, the power rotor having an axis of rotation that is transverse to said primary mud flow. The power rotor is provided with a plurality of magnets affixed thereto, the magnets being arranged so as to magnetically couple with the at least one stationary magnetic pickup. Upon rotation of the power rotor in response to the primary mud flow, a current is produced in the pickup coil mounted on the at least one stationary magnetic pickup.
