Abstract: The invention is directed to a novel method for making crystalline Form I of Olanzapine, wherein crude olanzapine is dissolved in a water-miscible solvent in which it is freely soluble, from which substantially pure polymorphic Form I of Olanzapine is recovered by precipitation.
Abstract: A rotary chip attach process and manufacturing approach takes chips (e.g., integrated circuits (ICs)) from a wafer in a rotary process. A chip wafer with a positioning unit is placed over the top of a sprocketed wheel that picks the ICs directly from the wafer and moves them in a semi-continuous in-step motion to a web that will accept the ICs. The sprocketed wheel includes chips that are preferably the same type as used in a typical pick-and-place robotic system, with vacuum heads adapted to pierce the wafer flat membrane (if needed), grab and IC and place and IC as desired. This positioning system keeps the IC's placement in an accurate position on the web, which can be made to move continuously with a plurality of sprocketed wheel placement units in place.
Abstract: A medical device is provided that encloses a wound and promotes wound drainage by suction. The device includes an enclosure to be placed over a wound, adhesively connected to the skin around the wound by a flange. Gauze type packing cylinders can be placed in the wound, and suction is provided either by a bulb type pump, or by a pair of regulators. When regulators are used, one alternates the suction that it provides, and the other is continuous, such that the level of suction is periodically varied. The suction facilitates the transfer of liquid from the wound to the packing cylinders and from the packing out of the enclosure. A leak detector is optionally provided.

Abstract: A radio frequency identification (RFID) tag is provided with a capability to adaptively initiate a floating RF threshold from the level of a raw RF signal detected during a communication session with a designated RFID reader, and to compare that threshold with the level of a baseband signal derived from the RF signal so as to reject RF interference including noise from other sources during the communication session. Preferably, the threshold is derived from the peak level of the detected RF signal on commencement of each communication from the reader during the session.
Abstract: A method of playing a game of skill is provided which includes providing a display, providing several different insignia, and providing a group of several sets of insignia. Each set includes an equal number of insignia in a prearranged order. The group includes first and last sets and a plurality of sets arranged in a designated order on a virtual track. The first set abuts the last set thereby forming a continuous virtual track. The order remains constant. A player provides credits for a play and the display sequentially displays one set of the plurality of sets in the designated order on for a finite period of time. Each set is displayed in a matrix until the player requests the sets to stop the sequential displaying at a particular set. The player is awarded credits for stopping the sequential displaying on a set displaying a winning pattern of indicia.
Abstract: A circuit for deriving an output clock signal from an input clock signal, the output clock signal having a frequency which is 1/Nth of the frequency of the input clock signal, where N is an odd number. The circuit comprises a plurality of latches configured as a latch ring, the latches being arranged in successive pairs, each pair of latches comprising a first latch that switches on one of the rising or falling edge of the input clock signal, and a second latch that switches on the other of the rising or falling edge of the input clock signal. An RS flip flop is coupled to receive at one of its set and reset inputs an output from the latch ring that is switched on a rising edge, and at the other of the set and reset inputs an output from the latch ring that is switched on a falling edge. Said output clock signal is provided at an output of the RS flip flop.
Abstract: In an embedded magnet motor, radial magnets and first inclined magnets form north poles. The radial magnets and second inclined magnets form south poles. Core sheets each include preformed radial accommodating slots the number of which is expressed by P/2. Some of the preformed radial accommodating slots are short slots and the rest are long slots. The short slots are located at some parts of each radial accommodating slot along the axial direction. Radially inner ends of the short slots restrict the radial magnets from moving radially inward.
Abstract: A fitment for package holding a liquid and a package including such a fitment. The fitment is a metering dispensing valve arranged to be secured to a flexible bag for selectively dispensing a metered quantity of the liquid therefrom. It includes a compressible bulb and a piercing member which when actuated pierces through the bag to enable a metered amount of the liquid to be drawn into a reservoir in the bulb. The bulb can then be compressed to dispense the metered amount of liquid from the reservoir. The dispensing valve also includes a inlet valve to the reservoir and an outlet valve from the reservoir. The fitment may include a pair of barriers to enable it to be sterilized before being secured to the bag form an aseptic package.
Abstract: An antitheft security system and method using networked pedestals for monitoring, and reporting data relating to, merchandise, having security tags coupled to or embedded therein, leaving or entering a business establishment and alerting business establishment personnel when a theft may be occurring. The system and method collect and communicate security tag data and associated peripheral device data to a remote server for analysis.

Abstract: A vehicle for pushing and riding, the vehicle including a frame having a front portion and a rear portion. The front portion of the frame has a lower connection post containing braking and steering components and the rear portion of the frame has an upper connection post containing braking and steering components for the rear portion. The upper and lower connection posts are threadedly engaged within a steering portion of the frame. A hitch beam on the front portion forms part of the frame. A hitch clamp on the rear portion of the frame is fastened around the hitch beam for connecting the front portion and the rear portion of the frame. A pair of front wheels is operationally connected to the front portion of the frame. At least one rear wheel is operationally connected to the rear portion of the frame.

Abstract: Systems and methods for disabling transponders used in electronic toll collection or other RFID systems, wherein the transponders include an antenna and RFID circuitry. The transponders can be selectively disabled by releasably securing a disabling device having a metallic portion at an operative position over the antenna of the RFID system, whereupon the metallic portion is coupled to the antenna in such a manner as to disable the RFID circuitry so long as the disabling device is at the operative position. The RFID circuitry is arranged to be automatically enabled upon removal of the disabling device from the operative position.

Abstract: A device and method to provide a surgically inserted internal tether between the femur and tibia is provided which will prevent distraction of the healing anterior cruciate ligament in all degrees of flexion and extension, at all times. The anterior cruciate ligament tether preserves the four-bar cruciate linkage, critical for normal knee mechanics. In addition, placement of the tether provides bleeding into the knee in the region of the anterior cruciate ligament attachment sites and the consequent inflow of pluripotential cells and healing mediators.
Abstract: An exfoliated picture projection method and device are provided which are capable of outputting distortion information of three-dimensional picture data. A distortion amount is calculated in accordance with the difference between the position of a reference virtual ray and the position of a virtual ray projected during creating of the exfoliated picture, coloring is added to the virtual rays in accordance with the distortion amount, and the colored virtual rays are projected to generate exfoliated picture data. Then, the same virtual rays are projected to generate perspective projective picture data, and the exfoliated picture data and perspective projective picture data are subjected to post processing. Therefore, the obtained exfoliated picture and perspective projection picture are output to a monitor.
