  • Patent number: 5448222
Abstract: A transducer cable includes an inner conductor, an outer conductor, and dielectric between the inner conductor and the outer conductor. A longitudinal passage and a sense wire loosely disposed therein extend through the dielectric. Movement, (e.g., intruder-caused vibration) of the transducer cable results in movement of the sense wire relative to the outer conductor, causing corresponding changes in characteristic impedance of the sense wire. A carrier signal transmitted down the inner conductor produces an electromagnetic field that couples energy to the sense wire. The change in characteristic impedance causes reflection of some of the coupled energy, which produces a corresponding signal that is sensed by a receiver circuitry. The receiver circuitry produces a signal indicating the occurrence of the intruder-caused vibration.

  • Patent number: 5443339
Abstract: The present invention relates to the simultaneous duplication of both the bit notch pattern and shoulder position of a master key onto a key blank. The key blank is longitudinally and laterally aligned relative to a key cutter. A master key is longitudinally and laterally aligned relative to a key follower. The key follower is then longitudinally and laterally displaced relative to the master key to trace the contour of the key master. The key cutter is simultaneously displaced relative to the key blank in an identical manner to reproduce the traced contour of the master key on the key blank and to longitudinally reposition the key blank shoulder to coincide with the relative longitudinal location of the master key shoulder by cutting away a portion of the shank to reduce the length of the shank.

  • Patent number: 5440475
Abstract: Power factor is increased and harmonic distortion is decreased in a boost circuit by varying the current drawn in phase with the ripple voltage from a rectifying bridge. The boost circuit includes a series connected inductor and switching transistor and the control electrode of the switching transistor is connected to a second inductor. The second inductor is magnetically coupled to the first inductor and provides feedback for sustaining high frequency oscillations in the boost circuit. A third inductor is magnetically coupled to the first and second inductors and to the control electrode of the switching transistor. The voltage from the third inductor is rectified and filtered to remove the high frequency pulses but not the ripple and the voltage is coupled to the control electrode of the switching transistor for changing the power consumed by said boost circuit in phase with the ripple.

  • Patent number: 5428501
Abstract: A solid electrolyte capacitor cell includes a cathode contact layer, a cathode layer of carbon and RbAg.sub.4 I.sub.5 surrounded by a peripheral portion of the cathode contact layer, a larger electrolyte layer of RbAg.sub.4 I.sub.5 attached to the cathode layer, and an anode layer of carbon and RbAg.sub.4 I.sub.5, an anode contact layer, and an insulative, annular silver barrier extending between and contacting peripheral portions of the cathode contact layer, the anode contact layer, and edges of the cathode, electrolyte, and anode layers to prevent silver migration. A composite capacitor includes a plurality of the series-connected solid electrolyte cells stacked in an elastic housing that maintains isostatic internal pressure throughout the electrolyte layers of all of the cells, making them resistant to formation of minute cracks in all of the electrolyte layers. This prevents deposition of silver in such cracks during charge/discharge cycling and therefore prevents cathode-to-anode shorts.
