  • Patent number: 4236600
Abstract: The present invention provides an emergency fire escape system for decending from elevated buildings during a fire. The present system in its simplies embodiment comprises of a pair of vertically oriented spaced apart continuous cables positioned along side an elevated structure having natural openings positioned between the cables, that is, windows, fire escapes, exits, or the like. The top portion of each cable passes through an adjustable pulley member rigidly affixed to the respective top portion of the building at which an given cable is located. The bottom portion of each cable is operably connected to separate gear motors having a pulley upon which each respective cable passes. The individual gear motors are synchronized such that the respective cables travel in unison over the gear motor pulleys.

  • Patent number: 4211076
Abstract: The present invention provides a new method of obtaining energy without using fuels. Basically the device consists of a conveyor belt that contains a continuous arrangement of cells or pockets that are open in the outward direction perpendicular to it's motion. The conveyor belt is set in motion by the effect of natural water flow or currents upon the hinged flaps that are attached to it. The cells when pointed in a downward direction, will carry air down to great depths and release the air at the point at which the belt turns beneath the water and when the cells are pointed in an upward direction. This highly compressed air can then be captured in a container and the stored energy thusly obtained can be used by gradually releasing it for the purpose of driving a turbine wheel.

  • Patent number: 4135605
Abstract: The present invention provides a portable light-weight ladder for use in connection with welding metal plates together positioned in an upright or vertical position comprising a main frame portion having extended side rails or stanchions which are rigidly affixed to each other by connecting rungs at each respective end of the side rails as in the manner of a conventional ladder. The side rails are further joined to each other by interconnecting rungs which in turn are provided with a removable portion at approximately the center thereof which portion can be swung or relocated out of position to provide access to an area immediately behind the particular rung, e.g., to gain access to a seam to be welded. One end of the present ladder is provided with an attachment for securing the ladder against a structure upon which the present ladder is to be employed.

  • Patent number: 4027874
Abstract: The present invention provides a novelty item comprising a base member which is affixed to a U-shaped structure. The U-shaped structure is inverted whereby the terminal ends of the U-shaped structure are attached to and rigidly affixed to the base member in a perpendicular relationship whereby the mid section of the U-shaped member is suspended above the base member at a distance essentially equal to that of the leg portions of the U-shaped member. A conventional bolt is rotatably suspended from the mid section of the U-shaped member by virtue of an eyelet rigidly affixed to the head of the bolt member whereby the bolt is vertically suspended upon the midsection of the U-shaped member during its normal at rest position. The bolt member is in turn provided with a standard nut member so as to form a standard nut and bolt assembly.Another embodiment of the instant invention is directed to a base member having an upright threaded shaft portion which is in turn provided with a standard nut member.

  • Patent number: 3948207
Abstract: The present invention provides an air breather annunciator for supplying and regulating a source of air to a remote operational station to be employed by, for example, a sand blaster working within a polluted air environment. The device basically comprises an air storage capacitor operably connected to an air supply and which in turn feeds a source of air through output regulator to an operational station requiring a source of air. Alarm means is provided for the visual and audio indication of either low pressure air supply or interruption thereof. Alarm circuit check means are also provided for manually checking both the visual and audio alarm circuits.
