Abstract: This invention relates to a process for pretreating a zeolite catalyst, specifically a zeolite which has been modified with phosphorus. The catalyst may be used in a process for alkylation of aromatics, specifically toluene methylation. The pretreatment is first to contact the catalyst with the process reactants used in a process for alkylation of aromatics for at least two hours at conditions to produce an alkylated aromatic product and then with a gaseous stream containing oxygen at a temperature and for a time until there is no oxygen consumption. The zeolite may be a MFI zeolite. This pretreatment procedure for a phosphorus-modified zeolite catalyst produces a catalyst which has increased run time, i.e., decreased deactivation rate, compared to a fresh catalyst, even after successive regenerations.

Abstract: An computer program product, apparatus, and method for facilitating input/output (I/O) processing for an I/O operation at a host computer system configured for communication with a control unit. The computer program product includes a tangible storage medium readable by a processing circuit and storing instructions for execution by the processing circuit for performing a method. The method includes the host computer system obtaining a transport command word (TCW) for an I/O operation. The TCW specifies a location of one or more I/O commands and a flag. The flag is set to indicate that the location is an indirect address. The host computer system extracts the location of the one or more I/O commands and the flag from the TCW. The host computer system gathers the one or more I/O commands responsive to the location specified by the TCW and the flag, and then forwards the one or more I/O commands to the control unit for execution.

Abstract: A computing system uses specialized “Set Associative Transaction Tables” and additional “Summary Transaction Tables” to speed the processing of common transactional memory conflict cases and those which employ assist threads using an Address History Table and processes memory transactions with a Transaction Table in memory for parallel processing of multiple threads of execution by support of which an application need not be aware. Special instructions may mark the boundaries of a transaction and identify memory locations applicable to a transaction. A ‘private to transaction’ (PTRAN) tag, directly addressable as part of the main data storage memory location, enables a quick detection of potential conflicts with other transactions that are concurrently executing on another thread of said computing system. The tag indicates whether (or not) a data entry in memory is part of a speculative memory state of an uncommitted transaction that is currently active in the system.

Electrically conductive portions are connected to a conditioning circuit in an embodiment.
Abstract: A universal shifter system that is adaptable to any of a variety of locations in a vehicle has a shift assembly with a frame supporting a shaft for rotation about a primary axis. An end of the shaft is exposed axially through the frame for circumferentially indexed attachment of either a shift arm or a cam device of the system dependent upon the selected system location in the vehicle. A side mount feature has a secondary axis that traverses the primary axis. The cam device rotates about both axes when selected. A shifter mechanism is supported by the frame and is constructed and arranged to rotate the shaft between park and drive positions. Preferably, a flexible park lock cable interfaces between the shifter mechanism and a start device of the vehicle to prevent the shaft from rotating from the park and into the drive position if the start device is not in a predetermined position.

Abstract: An inlet header (22) of a microchannel heat pump heat exchanger has a tube (34) disposed therein and extending substantially the length of the inlet header (22), with the tube (34) having a plurality of openings (36) therein. During cooling mode operation, refrigerant is caused to flow into an open end of the tube (34) and along its length to thereby flow from the plurality of openings (36) into the inlet header (22) prior to entering the microchannels (24) to thereby provide a uniform flow of two-phase refrigerant thereto. A bi-flow expansion device (41) placed at the inlet end of the tube (34) allows for the expansion of liquid refrigerant into the tube (34) during periods in which the heat exchanger operates as an evaporator and allows the refrigerant to flow directly from the header (22) and around the tube (34) during periods in which the heat exchanger operates as a condenser coil.

The polycarbonate component and the polyester component are present in sufficient proportions to form a molding composition capable of being molded into an article that exhibits transparency and structural integrity after the article is exposed to a caustic aqueous environment for at least 70 hours. The invention also relates to articles made from the composition, methods for making the compositions, and methods for using articles.
Abstract: A memory system includes a memory cell configured to represent at least two binary values, a bit line coupled to the memory cell, and first and second comparators coupled to the bit line that, respectively, compare a first and second reference value to a value of a parameter of the bit-line. The system also includes a first and second timers configured to measures a time for the parameter of the bit line to decay. The system also includes a logic unit coupled to the first and second timers that selects the time for the parameter of the bit line to decay from to a first value or a second value.

Abstract: A blower wheel housing for an air conditioning system is formed of a single molded element having a base section and a nozzle section with included vanes having complex shapes. This is accomplished by employing a pair of mold core elements which together form a cavity into which a plastic material is injected to form the cover with its integral nozzle and vanes, and the mold core elements are then withdrawn in opposite directions but at an angle to the direction normal to the two mold core elements to thereby accommodate the complex shapes of the vanes. In one embodiment, the top wall of the nozzle is disposed at an acute angle to the longitudinal plane of the cover, and the mold core elements are also withdrawn in a plane that is parallel to this wall.

Abstract: Cloud point monitoring systems for determining a cloud point temperature value for diesel fuel are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a cloud point monitoring system receives diesel fuel in the tubular conduit and propagates a sound wave through the diesel fuel. The cloud point monitoring system further determines a cloud point temperature value indicative of a cloud point of the diesel fuel based on a phase shift of the sound wave propagating through the diesel fuel.
Abstract: A method for displaying content of a time-sensitive e-mail message to a recipient, wherein the content displayed is based on when the recipient opens the time-sensitive e-mail message. A sender of the time-sensitive email message establishes content and a rule set for delivering the e-mail message. The rule set contains a predefined time limit for allowing the recipient of the time-sensitive e-mail message to open it. If the recipient opens the time-sensitive e-mail message within the predefined time limit, the content within the e-mail is delivered to the recipient. If, however, the recipient fails to open the time-sensitive e-mail message within the predefined time limit, then the time-sensitive e-mail message is either deleted from the recipient's mailbox or an alternative message is displayed.
