  • Patent number: 4378857
Abstract: The main frame member of a motor-cycle mounts a steering head supporting the front fork, and at its rear end also a rear fork. Both forks are provided with shock absorbers and especially with motor-cycles suited for moto-cross running the movements of the forks in action may be considerable. The combined center of gravity of motorcycle and rider will change due to road and driving conditions, which means that the load upon the shock absorbers will change continuously. Undue compression or expansion of the front fork shock absorbers will alter the inclination of the front fork in relation to the plane of the ground, which makes steering difficult. To counteract such alterations the steering head includes a hoirzontal pivot and lever means connected to the rear fork for adjusting the position of the vertical axis of the steering head by causing a rotation of the head about the horizontal pivot in response to the swinging of the rear fork.

  • Patent number: 4376527
Abstract: A device for tensioning reinforcing strands in concrete structures comprises a cylinder and a cooperating piston and is provided with means for supplying a pressure gas obtained by the combustion of powder or some similar compound. The device may be arranged so either the piston or the cylinder is movable, and by selecting the size and the composition of the powder charge it will be possible to use the device for an initial tensioning, usually performed in a number of steps, as well as for a final jerk. The device may be provided with an accumulator, at which the combustion occurs, the device being provided with means for permitting, at will, the gas from the accumulator to act upon the piston.

  • Patent number: 4373830
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for coupling a stranded cable assembly adapted for use in, for instance, a seat belt for automobiles, to a fitting. This method comprises inserting a sleeve into an opening provided in the fitting, inserting the mounting end of the stranded cable assembly into the sleeve and applying pressure onto the upper and lower sides of the sleeve in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction thereof to thereby secure said assembly to said sleeve and, at the same time, permit the sleeve to eat into the fitting.

  • Patent number: 4372096
Abstract: A device for sealing a preserving jaw by generation of a powerful vacuum in the head space of the jar. This is put into effect by a hood which is evacuated by means of an external vacuum pump, and is put over the jar's mouth loosely covered with a thin lid, the hood having an air tight seat on the jar. The lid is lifted by the vacuum inside of the hood and the air left within the jar is, consequently, evacuated. A special valve ensures that atmospheric air may not reenter the hood unless the lid had been pressed against the top edge of the jar's mouth, thus creating an air tight seat of both parts. The external overpressure keeps the jar tightly and durably sealed.

  • Patent number: 4371287
Abstract: For trowelling concrete spread over a floor, a trowelling device is used, which includes a carrier having a cantilever arm swingable over the floor. At the distal end of the arm a rotatable trowelling member is carried in a pedestal structure permitting vertical adjustment of the floor contacting parts. A laser sends a horizontal beam at a predetermined level over the floor, and an upwardly directed measuring rod at the housing of the trowelling member is provided with a detector for catching the beam, and for transferring deviations of the beam from a mark thereon into signals for adjusting the position of the trowelling member.

  • Patent number: 4369898
Abstract: A machine adapted to fill liquid products, under sterile conditions, into bottles has at least one quantitation pump and a piston servo motor for driving the same. The stroke of the servo motor can be adjusted to suit the quantity to be supplied to each bottle, and a sterile filter is fitted downstream of the pump. A valve is provided to disconnect the pump from the source supplying the liquid, and permit testing of the filter by means of pressurized air or gas. This may be supplied by the pump or by an external source.

  • Patent number: 4363250
Abstract: A device for driving a screw, pin, rivet or the like into a threaded or drilled hole is disclosed which is adapted to operate a nozzle comprising a pair of nozzle halves to pinch it. When driving a screw by means of the device as a screw driver, a thrust sleeve is displaced forwards by operating an E-shaped control lever on a stationary cylinder and thereby the nozzle halves are depressed at their rear parts so that they are opened. Then the screw to be driven is located in position midst the nozzle halves kept open and thereafter the control lever is restored to the original position. A press block is displaced forwards by means of a spring in the thrust sleeve and expands the nozzle halves, causing the nozzle to be opened to firmly hold the screw.

  • Patent number: 4363725
Abstract: An apparatus for removing stone and gravel from excavated soil by vibration. The apparatus is particularly useful for operation at the foot of a volcano, mountainous district or the like. Characteristic features of the apparatus are that it is self-propelled by means of endless tracks and the excavated soil is separated into stone, gravel and soil with the aid of a sieving means and the separated stone and gravel are discharged from the apparatus by way of a conveyor, while the separated fine soil is conveyed by way of another conveyor and then is scattered rearward by means of a scattering device to be piled up on the working ground.
