Abstract: A method for vehicular communications and information reporting. First and second wireless Internet connections between respective first and second vehicles and a web-server are provided. First and second event information is transmitted, to the web-server, from the first and second vehicles. The first and second event information relates to the same event in visual range, respectively, of occupants of the first and second vehicles. The web server may transmit, to the first and second vehicles, confirmed event information derived from the first and second event information.

Abstract: A method of providing alternate route possibilities to a first vehicle operator using a first networked navigation device includes determining a first route between a starting position and a travel destination. An alternate route request is transmitted to a second networked navigation device for a portion of the route between the starting position and the travel destination. The alternate route is received from the second navigation device. The determined first route and the received alternate route are presented to the first vehicle operator, including usage data for the alternate route.

Abstract: A mechanism for matching Electronic Program Guide (EPG) advertisements to subscribers or groups of subscribers and delivering those advertisements within the EPG. The subscribers are initially characterized in different groups by using commercially available data, such as demographic data. Furthermore, the groups of subscribers may be formed according to their characteristics. These characteristics may be derived from, but are not limited to, demographic data, geographic information or individual subscriber selection data. Subsequent to the formation of the groups, suitable advertisements to be placed in the EPG avails are selected, based on the matching of the advertisement characteristics to the characteristics of the groups, wherein the EPG avails are the advertising opportunities available within the EPG. Different versions of the EPG having targeted advertisements may be created, and the different versions may be placed on a download server for transmission over an access system to the subscriber.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method of predicting an output of a model includes receiving output data from a first run of a target predictive model. One or more additional sets of output data is received from runs of one or more alternate predictive model. The alternate predictive models predict parameters that relate to the output data of the first predictive model. A future output of a second run of the target predictive model is predicted based on the output data from the first run of the target predictive model and one or more sets of additional output data from runs of the alternate prediction model.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for measuring a quantity of usage of a CPU, in particular to a method for measuring a quantity of usage of a CPU which is capable of getting a credible quantity of usage of a CPU without amending an algorithm in order to adapt it to the an operating system, e.g., MS-Windows System, or requiring a complicated code. The method uses various algorithms provided by the operating system on the behalf of a registry storing a quantity of usage of a CPU inside a system. Accordingly the present invention can measure a quantity of usage of a CPU easily without lowering a performance of the operating system.

Abstract: A method of forming a situational network includes receiving an indication of an occurrence of a situation. A first set of connections are established with devices corresponding to a plurality of individuals, where the connections are established based on a determination that the plurality of individuals are affected by the occurrence of the situation. A second set of connections between two or more of the devices corresponding to the plurality of individuals is facilitated, where the first set and second set of connections are used at least in part to exchange information related to the situation among at least a subset of the individuals corresponding to the devices of the second set of connections.

Abstract: An advertisement storage and filtering system for selectively identifying targeted advertisements to be stored in the memory of the STB. This storing of the selected advertisements can be accomplished in a number of ways. In one embodiment, the advertisements, in real-time and as they are received at the STB, are processed by the STB and only those advertisements with the appropriate characteristics are stored on the hard drive (HD). This may require some buffering of the advertisements in the STB memory as the STB processes and determines whether or not to store the advertisement. The information required to determine whether or not to store the advertisement could also be sent in advance, e.g., as a data service in an advertisement channel. Alternatively, the STB may store incoming advertisements in a memory temporarily and subsequently determine whether or not to retain the stored advertisements.

Abstract: A method for providing notifications to an individual within a multi-dimensional personal information network includes obtaining itinerary information corresponding to a first individual within a multi-dimensional personal information network. A second individual that is included in a projection of the multi-dimensional personal information network that also includes the first individual is identified. Itinerary information corresponding to the second individual is obtained. One or notifications based on the itinerary information corresponding to the first individual and the itinerary information corresponding to the second individual are provided to the first individual.

Abstract: A device for detecting a weather condition, particularly a tornado. The device includes a receiver module configured to receive electromagnetic signal from an atmosphere, particularly electromagnetic signal in the range of 1 MHz to 100 MHz. The device also includes a processing module coupled to the receiver module and configured to generate frequency spectrum data corresponding to the received electromagnetic signal, such as by performing a Fast Fourier Transform operation. Frequency spectrum data corresponding to the weather condition desired to be detected is stored in a stored data module. The device also includes a comparison module for comparing, such as by performing a cross-correlation operation, the generated frequency spectrum data and the stored frequency spectrum data in order to determine whether the weather condition is present in the atmosphere.

Abstract: The present invention supports power management modes which includes (1) a maximum power performance mode, (2) a battery-optimized mode, and (3) a performance/optimization cycling mode for performing the maximum performance mode and the battery-optimized mode alternately within a prescribed period of time. The cycling mode allows flexibility in power management and faster charging of the battery.
