Abstract: A homemade explosives (HME) detection system provides a coded-source, x-ray computed laminography imaging system which detects material composition by the ratio of the transmitted characteristic X-rays within a coded x-ray beam. Motion-free 3-Dimensional geometrical details are obtained through computed laminography imaging techniques.
Abstract: A composite transmission housing includes resin transfer molding or vacuum assisted resin transfer molding manufacturing processes combined with discontinuous fiber preforms. The preforms are assembled in a prepared injection and cure mold with additional details and fillers. The preforms are constructed such that the preforms are assembled into the mold in a specific order to assure proper arrangement. Using a combination of vacuum and pressure, a resin is injected into the mold to completely infuse the assembled preforms. At completion, the mold is heated to the resin cure temperature and held at this temperature for sufficient time to insure complete cure.

Abstract: A valve device, in particular for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, has a valve flap which is arranged in a tube and can assume a basic position and an actuating position. A motor-driven valve drive that is arranged outside the tube and is coupled to a shaft of the valve flap by a force transmission element. A mechanical restoring element urges the valve flap into the basic position. The valve drive works against the mechanical restoring element as far as to the actuating position. A lever is connected to one end of the force transmission element and when in the actuating position of the valve flap, is in or near the dead-center position with respect to the force transmission direction from or to the force transmission element.
Abstract: A sealed compressor includes a cylindrical shell extending along an axis. A compressor pump unit is mounted within a housing defined by the cylindrical shell. An electric motor has an inner rotor and an outer stator. The stator has an outer peripheral surface of a first dimension. The center shell has a nominal inner diameter, greater than the first dimension of the stator. The rotor drives a driveshaft about the axis. The driveshaft is associated with the compressor pump unit. A suction port extends through the center shell to deliver a suction fluid to be compressed by the compressor pump unit. Some of the suction fluid flows into a gap defined between the nominal inner diameter of the center shell and the outer periphery of the stator. The center shell has portions deformed radially inwardly to contact the outer periphery of the stator.
Abstract: A mounting system for a gas turbine engine includes a mounting linkage assembly and a tangential link positioned generally transverse to the mounting linkage assembly. The mounting linkage assembly reacts at least a thrust load. The tangential link reacts at least a vertical load, a side load, and a torque load of the gas turbine engine.

Abstract: Systems and methods for forming components with thermal barrier coatings are provided. In this regard, a representative method includes: providing a component having a first side and an opposing second side; and using a preformed mask to obstruct vapors from being deposited on the second side of the component while moving the component relative to the vapors such that the vapors form a thermal barrier coating on the first side of the component.

Abstract: An inlet system, including for an auxiliary power unit includes an inlet louver mounted to an inlet duct, the inlet louver defines a multiple of vanes positioned to shield the inlet duct from fluids which fall in direction generally transverse to a free stream airflow.
Abstract: A fuel cell cooling system includes a fuel cell having a liquid loop that produces water vapor. An antifreeze cooling loop includes an inductor that receives the water vapor and introduces the water vapor to an antifreeze. The water is separated from the antifreeze and returned to the liquid cooling loop as liquid water after the mixture of condensed water vapor and antifreeze has passed through a radiator. Water in the liquid cooling loop exits the fuel cell and passes through a restricting valve thereby lowering the pressure of the water. A flash cooler downstream from the restricting valve collects the water vapor and provides it to the inductor in the antifreeze cooling loop. The flash cooling in the first cooling loop provides a first cooling capacity that is low temperature and pressure compatible with fuel cell operation.
Abstract: A blade outer air seal for being positioned radially outwardly of a gas turbine blade has at least one cooling air passage with a dividing wall dividing the at least one cooling air passage into two separate flow paths. The dividing wall does not extend throughout an entire length of the blade outer air seal of the first dimension.

A support is pivotably and slidably mounted to each of the end walls. The support is configured to extend into the container and to fully retract within the end wall. The support extends far enough into the container to reliably support another container thereon.
