Abstract: This invention provides a method for reducing phosphorous in a body of water. This method comprises calcining a plurality of rocks and collecting carbon dioxide formed as a result of the calcining process; crushing the plurality of calcined rocks; pumping source water from the body of water into to a plurality of retaining cells; flocculating the phosphorus in the source water by introducing the plurality of calcined rocks into the source water in the retaining cells; settling out a phosphorous precipitate formed by the flocculating act; adjusting the pH level of the flocculated source water to a predetermined range of values by pumping carbon dioxide created by the calcining of the rocks into the source water to created treated water; and transferring the treated water back to the body of water.
Abstract: A system, method and article of manufacture are provided for using a dynamic object in a programming language. In general, an object is defined with an associated first value and second value. The first value is used in association with the object during a predetermined clock cycle. The second value is used in association with the object before or after the predetermined clock cycle.
Abstract: A system, method and article of manufacture are provided for recording memory transfers required by an executing application. A memory of a system hosting an application is divided into micropages (small ranges of memory). A memory map of the application is maintained. The map records which functions have valid copies of micropages. The map is checked to determine which functions have a valid copy of the data when a current function reads for a micropage. A transfer of the data from another function to the current function is recorded if the current function does not have a valid copy of the data. The map is updated to reflect that the current function has a valid copy of the micropage if the data is transferred from another function. A write to a micropage is recorded. The map is updated to reflect that the current function has the only valid copy of a micropage when a write to the micropage occurs. A report of data transfers among the functions is output.
Abstract: This invention provides an apparatus and a method for generating power from a flowing liquid. The apparatus has three main components. The first component is a control unit for selectively directing the flowing liquid to the second component, the power unit, which is responsible for generating power. The third component, a reversing unit, is used to adjust the control unit between two control unit configurations. The method involves the manner in which the liquid is passed and directed through the apparatus in order to generate power.
Abstract: This invention provides an apparatus and a method for agitating a fluid suspension contained within an at least partially flexible vessel. This invention provides an apparatus comprising a structure for receiving the vessel, an agitating member capable of receiving the vessel, and a motor operatively communicating with the agitating member to substantially uniformly agitate the fluid suspension. This invention also provides a method comprising folding an at least partially flexible vessel so that there are two inner portions and reciprocally moving one or both of the inner portions between a first position and a second position, whereby the fluid suspension is substantially uniformly agitated.

Abstract: A system for providing accurate, quantifiable and reproducible assessments of an organization's performance based on predetermined criteria. The system includes a telecommunications infrastructure administered by a survey administrator. Employees or non-employees of a company or other organization to be evaluated log on to the system and answer a plurality of questions relating to various aspects of the business entity's operations. The information may be obtained through Internet communications, through touch-tone telephone systems, and in many other ways including the use of personal computers, diskettes and email, or even manually including the use of pencil and paper where penciled-in answers are read by a scanner. The data is stored in a database and subsequently analyzed by the survey administrator for evaluation and forecasting of the business entity's performance.
Abstract: A relativity controller is a scroll bar/window combination that provides a way to see data in relation to both the context of its wholeness and the salience of its contents. To accomplish this, the linear density or other appearance of the scroll bar (acting as a ruler or scale) varies with the density of the document salience (as indicated by different kinds of annotations or marks). It also provides a way to zoom between perspectives. This is usable on many different data types: including sound, video, graphics, calendars and word processors.
Abstract: A computer system utilizing software to map content by determining a field of relevance and at least one topic in the field of relevance is presented. The system determines at least one content pertaining to the topic, retrieves a representation of the content and maps the representation of the content onto the field of relevance. Then, it provides an extremely flexible presentation mechanism where the content is organized by multi-dimensional mappings to present the information effectively. The system also provides a navigation aid for traversing multi-dimensional information utilizing a variety of features and tools for effectively visualizing the information. One of the features allows a vector to be assigned to each entity, queries a user or software agent for a particular focal element and displays the multiplicity of distinguishable entities based upon the assigned vectors utilizing the focal vector as a reference point to view the information.
