Patent number: 4547878Abstract: This disclosure depicts a non-linear adder circuit for teleconferencing. A pre-determined number of most significant bits (MSB) is utilized from a first PCM signal to select one of a plurality of PROMs. Each of the PROMs receives a second predetermined number of bits, other than the bits used for selecting from the first PCM signal, and the predetermined number of bits from a second PCM signal. The unique address locations within the PROMs of the first and second PCM signals are stored. From this address location a third PCM signal is outputted which is a non-linear addition of the first and second PCM signals.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1983Date of Patent: October 15, 1985Assignee: Rockwell International CorporationInventor: Michael J. Patent number: 4545286Abstract: This disclosure depicts a novel apparatus for providing protection to armored personnel carriers such as tanks, or other military vehicles. The invention comprises a series of rectangular armor plates mounted to the surface area of the vehicle. The armor plates adjacent one another and each plate is secured to the tank surface by a threaded fastener. The threaded fasteners maintain the plates a predetermined distance from the tank surface and maintains the plates in a substantially parallel relationship to the surface of the tank wall. Each plate has three separate tiles adhered together, one tile comprising a steel material, one tile a soft material and one tile a thermally dissipating ceramic. The means for mounting the plates to the tank surface are designed such that the energy required to break the threaded fastener upon impact by a projectile is less than the energy required for the projectile to penetrate the plate.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1984Date of Patent: October 8, 1985Inventor: Victor Fedij

Patent number: 4518930Abstract: A high-frequency negative resistance circuit for use in a voltage controlled crystal oscillator has a pair of input terminals thereby defining an input current and input voltage. The high-frequency negative resistance circuit includes a sensing circuit for sensing the input current, a biasing voltage source and a load impedance connected to the voltage source. The high-frequency negative resistance circuit further comprises a current mirror circuit connected to the sensing circuit and to the load impedance for producing a current in the load impedance. The current in the load impedance is approximately equal to the input current. The current mirror circuit also controls the sensing circuit to cause the input voltage to decrease as the input current increases. Decreasing input voltage with increasing input current defines the negative resistance. When this negative resistance circuit is configured with a crystal and a voltage controlled capacitance, an oscillator capable of high-frequency operation results.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 1982Date of Patent: May 21, 1985Assignee: Rockwell International CorporationInventors: John G. Patent number: 4500986Abstract: Asymmetrical time division multiplex switch for use in a nonblocking switch matrix. This design reduces parts required to configure the switch matrix since the prior art typically uses symmetrical switches wherein one of the inputs and outputs of a plurality of switches are connected in parallel to perform the total switch matrix function. The asymmetrical design reduces parts count and accordingly increases reliability of the total device.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1983Date of Patent: February 19, 1985Assignee: Rockwell International CorporationInventor: John H.
