Abstract: Radioactive seeds contained in a suture material are shielded during shipping and storage inside a curved tube of dense material having two open ends. The suture material protrudes through at least one end of the tube. Preferably, one end of the suture material has removable means for preventing the end from entering the tube prematurely, and the other end is attached to a needle. The seeds spaced from the open ends of the curved tube so as to prevent radiation from escaping from the tube.

Abstract: A non-polarizable electrode is disclosed comprising a metallic sensing element in contact with an electrolyte gel or other conformable, electrically conductive skin-interfacing material containing dissolved electrolyte salt and an oxidizing agent. The oxidizing agent reduces the metal on the surface of the sensing element to a metal cation which reacts with the anion of the electrolyte salt to produce an insoluble compound which is deposited on the sensing element to render it non-polarizable. The preferred embodiment of the invention relates to silver/silver chloride electrodes.
