  • Patent number: 4419211
Abstract: In an instrument with a sensor for gas analysis which, based on the principle underlying its measurement, indicates the partial pressure of the gas constituent to be measured, the indication of the change in the partial pressure of the gas constituent is affected by changes in the atmospheric pressure. Such instruments must be calibrated at mean sea level and adjusted for changes in height at the measuring site.In order to eliminate the need for adjustment or recalibration, there is included in the instrument a pressure-sensitive module to compensate for the effects of the atmospheric pressure on the sensor. The module compensates the measured value directly or by means of a microprocessor with regard to the prevailing pressure conditions.

  • Patent number: 4414726
Abstract: A clevis end connecting rod such as truck lever connection rods, brake cylinder push rods, brake rod ends, etc., utilized on railroad cars, is manufactured by positioning an outside side surface of a metal eye member, having a bore therethrough, transversely against one end of a metal rod, and then the metal rod end is circumferentially welded to the eye member side surface with a good concentric and coaxial uniform weld. Thereafter, the eye member is transversely cut in half, thereby providing a cutting gap which is in line with the axis of the rod. Then this same end of the rod is axially cut to a predetermined depth to provide a bifurcated rod end. The bifurcation is aligned with the cutting gap between the eye member halves, and then the bifurcated rod end is spread and re-shaped to form a clevis end with the bores of the eye member halves being positioned in spaced alignment to receive a clevis pin, thereby eliminating expensive prior art hot forging techniques.

  • Patent number: 4392233
Abstract: An original electromagnetic continuous wave which is broken up into discrete lengths to form intelligence such as Morse Code, is filtered to eliminate noise, static and other electrical interference to render a weak code signal audible even in the worst receiving conditions. The original broken-up electromagnetic code wave is converted into corresponding discrete lengths of direct current voltage signals through the use of a phase-locked loop circuit. This D.C. voltage signal is then utilized to activate an audio oscillator and thereby generate a new coded or broken-up audio wave completely free of noise and other interference, which corresponds to the original wave being filtered. This new wave is audibly produced over a speaker and simultaneously therewith, the original wave before filtering is also audibly produced over a speaker through a second channel. This permits accurate tuning of the weak signal through the second channel and undistorted reproduction through the filtering channel.
