  • Patent number: 6440051
Abstract: A method and a machine for making a plastic film bag with opposed closable end openings as well as a double compartment bag is described. The bags may be formed from J-folded, U-folded or tubular film sheets. In one embodiment, a bag is formed with a gusseted end adjacent which a zipper closure and a detachable end is provided and at the other end of the bag there is provided an opening which is closable by a closure tag. The method and machine are also adaptable to form double-ended closure bags having two distinct compartments, each accessible by a respective one of the end closure. The bags formed by the method and machine have various uses such as carrying two separate articles, each article being accessible from one of the opposed ends of the bags. The double compartment bags may also contain two different products, each accessible separately through a zipper closure. The bags may also be formed with a flap provided with wicket holes to support the bag in an automatic bag filling machine.

  • Patent number: 6111210
Abstract: An electrical safety outlet is provided and consists of a plug receptacle having typically at least a large neutral blade-slot and a small voltage blade-slot for receiving a large neutral blade and a small voltage blade of a corresponding and mating multi-prong polarized plug. The invention also applies to older plugs and three-blade plugs where both the neutral and voltage blades are the same width. In one embodiment, insertion of the multi-prong polarized plug depresses the exterior lobes of two separate cams which work together to change the normally open circuit receptacle of the present invention to a closed circuit receptacle. In order for both cams to be activated, the mating multi-prong polarized plug must be inserted almost completely into the plug receptacle before the electrical circuit is closed, thereby supplying current to the plug. The neutral prong must be at least the width of the voltage prong to close the circuit.

  • Patent number: 6039068
Abstract: According to a first embodiment, an apparatus for shielding a movable articulated structure such as robot arm to be protected from a hard working environment comprises one or more shielding sections forming with the outer surface of the robot arm a cavity which is filled with pressurized air. Adjacent portions of the shielding sections are coupled through a rotary joint allowing escape of the pressurized air out of the cavity while maintaining within the cavity a positive pressure relative to the ambient environment pressure which is sufficient to substantially prevent contamination of the robot arm from the working environment. According to a second embodiment, the apparatus comprises a shielding cover comprised of one or more cover sections forming with the outer surface of the robot arm a cavity which is filled with pressurized air.

  • Patent number: 6036743
Abstract: There is provided a method and apparatus for removing liquid salts from liquid metal utilizing at least one porous substrate which is wettable by liquid salts and is not wettable by liquid metal. The porous substrate is inserted into a container having a quantity of liquid metal which is contaminated with an amount of liquid salt. The salt contaminated liquid metal contacts the substrate so that the liquid salt is absorbed into the porous substrate. The salt wetted porous substrate is then removed from the container.

  • Patent number: 6036606
Abstract: A golf course and a method of construction is described whereby to permit a plurality of sequential arrangements of golf links within the golf course so that golf players can play the same nine or eighteen golf links of the course but in a plurality of different golf link sequential arrangements. The golf course has a plurality of putting green areas which are spaced apart from one another with each being associated with one or more fairway areas to constitute a plurality of golf links. A tee area is associated with the fairway area of each of the golf links. A designation identifies individual ones of the golf links. The green areas and fairway areas are disposed in a predetermined web pattern to permit a plurality of these sequential arrangements of the links with the putting green areas having a single associated one of the fairway areas in each of the sequential arrangements.

  • Patent number: 5903223
Abstract: There is provided a humidifier control system including a water reservoir having a top opening. A pair of wicking pads extend into the reservoir and around a tube which extends over the top opening. An electrical heating element is received inside the tube. First and second spaced apart moisture sensor elements are attached to the tube and are in contact with the wicking pads. The sensor elements conduct electricity in the presence of moisture on the wicking pads and do not conduct electricity in the absence of moisture on the wicking pads. The sensor elements are attached to an electrical circuit which includes a switch and an alarm. When there is moisture on the wicking pads, the switch is on and normal current flows through the heating element and the switch. When there is not moisture on the wicking pads, the switch is turned off and the current through the heating element is reduced to a minimal level, and the alarm is turned on.
