Abstract: The system includes a permanent magnet three-phase motor and an electronic current controlled inverter by pulse width modulation. The motor has twenty-two poles and twenty-four slots, three phases and a cylindrical outer rotor. This structure minimizes torque ripple and maximizes energy efficiently. All coil windings are wound around the stator teeth. A winding configuration is proposed. The motor phases are supplied by alternating rectangular current waveforms. A specific inverter control system is described to maximize efficiency and reduce current ripple and electromagnetic interference under motorizing or generating operations. The current control is realized by using the MOSFETs voltage for the current measurement.

Abstract: There is provided a method and associated kit for reducing the normal dosage of a pharmaceutical given to a patient for the treatment of a disorder without substantially reducing its effectiveness. During a first predetermined time period, a substantially full dosage of the pharmaceutical is administered to the patient, preferably with a placebo. During a second predetermined time period, a reduced dosage of the pharmaceutical is administered to the patient, also with a placebo. The second predetermined time period is subsequent to the first predetermined time period. Preferably, the placebo has a distinctive indicia. The placebo, in association with the decreased pharmaceutical, augments the effectiveness of the pharmaceutical by heightening the patient's conditioned response and expectation of effectiveness.
Abstract: A system (1) for the precisely and accurately controlled delivery and collection of aerosolized masses. The system (1) includes an aerosol generator (100), an upstream electro-optional aerosol mass concentration sensor (200) past which aerosols are transported at a known upstream volumetric flow rate, a deposition zone (300) within which aerosols are collected on or within a media, and a downstream electro-optical aerosol mass concentration sensor (201) past which aerosols uncollected in the deposition zone (300) are transported at a known downstream volumetric flow rate. The net mass of aerosols collected in the deposition zone (300) is determined by integrating over time the product of mass concentration measured by the upstream electro-optical sensor (200) and the upstream volumetric flow rate minus the product of mass concentration measured by the downstream electro-optical sensor (201) and the downstream volumetric flow rate.

Abstract: There is provided a device for securing geo-textile material in place on the ground in the form of a fastener having a top member and at least one elongated leg member. The leg member is driven into the ground in close proximity to the geo-textile material. The top member remains above the ground with at least a portion of the top member being of a color which contrasts with the color of the geo-textile material so that the location of the fastener may be readily determined. Thus, an inspector will know whether or not the geo-textile material has been properly secured to the ground.
Abstract: A vertical pouch forming, filling and sealing machine and method for making pouches and filling same with a liquid content in the range of about 5 to 20 liters, is described. As a pouch is being filled with a liquid it descends into a support cage to restrain the pouch from ballooning out and prevents the weight of the liquid in the filled pouch from tensioning the film in the hot horizontal seal zone of the horizontal sealer. The support cage compensates for loss of surface tension of the film in the hot horizontal seal zone during the horizontal sealing cycle. The cage also has a gate section to discharge the filled pouch by gravity after the horizontal sealing cycle.
Abstract: The multi-layer film structure having an inner sealing layer which comprises metallocene catalyzed resin, a core which includes polypropylene copolymer and an outer layer and wherein the multi-layer film structure has a thickness within a range between about 50 and 70 microns. By utilizing this thin film with specific properties the sealers may be operated at lower temperatures thereby resulting in an energy saving and they produce seals having improved seal strength of 30% to 50% as compared with known prior mono-layer polyethylene film. The seal initiation temperature is reduced by 10° C. to 15° C. and the film exhibits an improved machine direction tensile strength of 25% to 40% and an improvement of 30% to 50% in puncture resistance as compared with a 76 microns mono-layer polyethylene film. This results in a reduction in the sealing cycle time and an increase in the throughput of the machine.
