Abstract: Methods and compositions are provided for detecting a primer extension product in a reaction mixture. In the subject methods, a primer extension reaction is conducted in the presence of a polymerase having 3??5? exonuclease activity and at least one FET labeled oligonucleotide probe that includes a 3??5? exonuclease resistant quencher domain. Also provided are systems and kits for practicing the subject methods. The subject invention finds use in a variety of different applications, and are particularly suited for use in high fidelity PCR based reactions, including SNP detection applications, allelic variation detection applications, and the like.
Abstract: The present invention relates to spacers that are configured to promote fusion. Windows or openings in the sidewalls of the fusion spacers may be provided to allow a physician to view the treated area to confirm that fusion has occurred or to check on the progress of treatment. Fusion spacers of the invention may have two or more pairs of openings or windows that allow viewing of the treated area from different perspectives.
Abstract: An electronic calculator apparatus converts between bushel measures of a selected crop product and weight measures of the selected crop product. The apparatus comprises a microprocessor and a keyboard comprising a numerical portion, a crop product portion, and a conversion portion operative to transmit to the microprocessor respective numerical, crop product, and conversion data inputs selected by a user. The microprocessor is programmed with known arithmetical relationships between bushel measures of selected crop products and corresponding weight measures of the selected crop products and is operative to receive the numerical, crop product, and conversion data inputs and to provide a data output corresponding to a desired conversion between bushel measures and weight measures. A display is coupled to the microprocessor and is operative to display the data inputs and data output to a user.
Abstract: The present invention includes apparatus for simultaneous loading of multiple samples for molecular separation, including a separation area with walls wherein at least one of the walls has apertures having loading sites, a gel located within the separation area, and a plurality of wells within the gel. The apertures are connected to the plurality of wells by channels structurally configured to convey samples from the apertures to the wells. The present invention further includes apparatus for electrophoresis separation having a substantially closed electrophoresis area, an electrophoresis gel located within the electrophoresis area, and multiple rows of wells within the electrophoresis gel, wherein the rows are arranged in a stagger format.

Abstract: The invention generally concerns a spine stabilization system having one or more flexible elements having an opening or slit. The flexible element may be integrally formed in a rod having ends capable of receiving fasteners. The flexible element may limit rotation, flexion-extension, or lateral bending of the spine. The slit or opening may form helical pattern on the rod, and more than one slit or opening may be provided. The flexible element may be conformable to the natural spinal movement.
