The oxazolidinones are useful as chiral auxiliary agents and as intermediates for the formation of pharmaceutically active substances such as alpha 1 a adrenergic receptor antagonists. A process for preparing nitrogen-functionalized derivatives of the oxazolidinones is also disclosed.
