  • Patent number: 6229115
Abstract: A running web of tipping paper (one side of which is coated with a film of adhesive) in a filter cigarette making machine is subdivided into discrete uniting bands and/or is perforated by resorting to a single source or to two discrete sources of coherent radiation. Each source is associated with a control unit which initiates the emission of short-lasting flashes of coherent radiation. Such radiation is caused to impinge upon a diffractive focusing lens which focuses coherent radiation upon one or more masks having openings for coherent radiation which is to sever the web along transversely extending linear zones and/or to provide the web with desired arrays of perforations. The perforations permit atmospheric air to enter the column of tobacco smoke in a filter cigarette wherein the tobacco-containing portion and the filter mouthpiece are united by a perforated adhesive-coated uniting band.

  • Patent number: 6211596
Abstract: A claw-pole machine has a stator and a rotor, and an exciter coil that is wound on a solid core in the rotor. The solid core extends in the radial direction into two claw magnet wheels that end in a plurality of claw-pole fingers, having a plurality of solid, radially-outward-oriented parts, and has a plurality of tangential side surfaces, which alternate axially, starting from two sides, wherein a plurality of U-shaped metal sheets are attached to the solid, radially-outward-oriented parts of the claw-pole fingers. The U-shaped metal sheets are layered one on top of the other in the axial direction to prevent eddy currents.

  • Patent number: 6197047
Abstract: A stent, particularly a coronary stent, which includes at least one thin-walled, tubular body (2), the surface (1) of which is divided into strap-like, expandable elements (4,4′,4″,4′″,4″″) extending in the longitudinal direction of the stent and expandable in the circumferential direction thereof and, which elements are linked by at least one joining strap (6,6′). Two expandable elements (4,4′,4″,4′″,4″″) are juxtaposed in the circumferential direction of the stent and, by means of an end attachment (8), with the end face (4.4′) of an expandable element (4,4′,4″,4′″,4″″) adjoining in the longitudinal direction of the stent. The surface (1) in the non-expanded condition is substantially free of apertures and is divided by partition lines (3), which have a considerably smaller width compared with the strap width of the expandable elements (4,4′,4″,4′″,4″″).

  • Patent number: 6184818
Abstract: An arrangement for measuring the liquid level in a tank. The arrangement has a microwave transmitting/receiving device and a waveguide that extends into the tank for guiding a coupled-in microwave. The waveguide has clear and constant wave propagation characteristics for a wave with the operating frequency.
