  • Patent number: 5665594
Abstract: A rotating cell vessel (4), designed to be simply constructed, and method of use have been developed. The vessel (4) is constructed of materials which are permeable to oxygen and carbon dioxide, and when rotated horizontally around central axis (10) suspends the contents, cells and particle substrates, in a liquid medium with a low turbulence, low shear fluid environment. The vessel walls (24) are made at least partially of gas permeable material. The vessel (4) is rotated to suspend the cells and substrate particles in a low turbulence liquid nutrient medium. Oxygen continuously diffuses through the permeable vessel material and through the cell culture liquid medium to provide the needed oxygen to the cells. Carbon dioxide diffuses through the cell culture medium and through the vessel wall (24), removing this waste product from the cell culture. A means for entrapping gas bubbles away from cell growth is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5655265
Abstract: An apparatus for tightening strap members comprises a buckle member having a first means for attachment to a strap and a second means for attachment to a strap. A plurality of longitudinally spaced apart pin-receiving boreholes are provided on slidably related sections of the buckle member such that the boreholes in one section have a vernier relationship with the boreholes in another section, thus permitting a boreholes to come into alignment as the sections are slid past each other at an adjustment increment which is less than the spacing between the boreholes on either section. A method is also provided for using the assembly to tightening a strap.

  • Patent number: 5644993
Abstract: There is provided an adjustable shelving device that is safe and easy to use. The shelving device has a frame, a plurality of shelves, a means for attaching the shelves, support bars and a means for linking more than one shelving device together. Each upright leg defines a plurality of laterally spaced holes, the holes in one upright leg are horizontally aligned with the holes in the other upright leg. The means for attaching shelves comprises a plurality of tubular oval brackets and a plurality of arms. The inside diameter of the oval bracket is substantially similar to the outside diameter of the upright legs. The plurality of shelves are adjustably mounted on the plurality of arms and are positioned in a horizontal plane perpendicular to the upright legs. The oval brackets further have a bracket locking means positioned on the inside surface near the first end and the back of the bracket. • Patent number: 5632583
Abstract: An apparatus formed from a base member and a plurality of bolts is used to position the bolts on a flange. The base member is preferably arcuately shaped and has a first end and a second end. The arcuate base member defines a plane and is hand bendable in the plane. The base member has a longitudinal axis normal to the plane and a radius of curvature with respect to the longitudinal axis. A plurality of bolts are mounted to the arcuate base member. Each bolt of the plurality of bolts extends generally longitudinally from the arcuate base member. The device is useful for mounting items to a flange. A multiplicity of boreholes extend through the flange in a direction generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tubular member from the back face to the front face. Each borehole is defined by a borehole wall. The bolts are retained in frictional engagement with the borehole walls due to tension from the arcuate base member.
