  • Patent number: 6219970
Abstract: A frame member having a centrally disposed opening, a plurality of louvers pivotally disposed within the opening of the frame member, a relief notch on the lateral edge of the louver, and a louver adjusting member attached to the plurality of louvers. The louver adjusting member is completely disposed within the relief notch of the louvers, thereby maintaining at least a flush profile on either the inner surface or outer surface of the window shutter when the louvers are in the closed position. The window shutter apparatus further comprises a hanging strip that includes pivotally attaching the frame member thereto, a compliance strip for attachment to the hanging strip, and a T-strip attached to either the hanging strip or frame member. The compliance strip adjusts for dimensional variations in the side surfaces of the window opening that leave a gap when the hanging strip is placed adjacent thereto.

  • Patent number: 6210250
Abstract: An ornamental display apparatus suited for the Christmas season having a concealable figurine that is movable from a concealed position to a display position. While the figurine is in the display position, seasonal music is broadcasted. The ornamental display apparatus generally comprises a base, a botanical model, a housing, a figurine, a motorized drive assembly and a music broadcasting means. The botanical model is disposed on the base, and the housing is enclosed within the botanical model. The botanical model is movable between an open and closed position. The figurine resides atop the base and is movable between a concealed position within the housing and an exposed position external to the botanical model. The motorized drive assembly moves the figurine between the concealed and exposed position, as well as the botanical model between the open and closed position.

  • Patent number: 6206074
Abstract: An adjustable finial mounting bracket apparatus generally comprising a first bracket, a firs t flange, a second bracket, a second flange, a knob, and a screw. The first flange and second flange extend outwardly from the first bracket and the second bracket, respectively, and are adapted to engage the lips of a headrail for a curtain or drapery. The first bracket and the second bracket abut each other and are attached together by a screw. Each bracket is adapted to longitudinally move with respect to the other, thereby providing the adjustment capability for attachment onto headrails of varying sizes. The surfaces of both the first bracket and the second bracket are corrugated so that detent movement is provided when sliding first bracket relative to second bracket, and greater holding strength of the apparatus on the headrail is achieved when the screw is tightened.

  • Patent number: 6170086
Abstract: An adjustable cap apparatus comprising a crown portion having a front end and a rear end, an opening disposed on the rear end of the crown portion, a visor attached to the front end of the crown portion, and stretchable material completely covering the opening such that surface continuity with the crown portion is maintained. The multi-axial stretchability and resiliency of the material covering the opening allows for both halves of the crown portion to either be drawn together or spread apart to fit the wearer, thereby providing a degree of adjustability to the cap and comfort to the wearer. The stretchable material disposed within the opening has a greater stretchability than the material of the crown portion, even when the crown portion is composed predominantly of a stretchable material, thereby serving the purpose of increasing the degree of adjustability in caps already incorporating stretchable material in the crown portion.

  • Patent number: 6152112
Abstract: A diesel engine fuel jumper line assembly is disclosed which provides both improved performance and ease in manufacturing. The fuel jumper line forms a loop with the fuel injector and the fuel manifold/engine block. There is an improved connection between the injector and the fuel jumper lines with positive sealing which provides for substantially enhanced sealing and more effective maintenance. The novel sealing design eliminates the prior metal-to-metal seal and has chamfer-shaped fittings. A reinforced connection in which the fuel manifold is bolted to the fuel line jumper block is also provided, which prevents fuel leaking and mixing with the lubrication oil as well as preventing lubricating oil leaking outside of the engine through the bolt hole.

  • Patent number: 6153046
Abstract: An adhesive tape cutting and folding apparatus generally comprising a main wheel, means for cutting the adhesive tape, means for advancing the main wheel, and means for folding a strip of adhesive tape over a working piece. The main wheel includes a plurality of radially disposed folding slots that open adjacent the periphery of the main wheel. Adhesive tape from a standard roll is spooled around the main wheel, wherein the adhesive side of the tape faces radially outwards. As the working piece is pushed into a slot, the cutting means is actuated severing a piece of tape from the supply roll. As the piece of tape is cut, the tape folding means, which is disposed within the slot, folds and applies the severed piece of tape over the working piece. As the working piece is withdrawn from the slot, the indexing means advances the main wheel to position another folding slot and fresh section of adhesive tape.

  • Patent number: 6102530
Abstract: An apparatus and method for forming a bubble within a microchannel of a microinjector to function as a valve mechanism between the chamber and manifold, that provides for a high resistance to liquid exiting the chamber through the manifold during fluid ejection through an orifice and that also provides a low resistance to refilling of liquid into the chamber after ejection of fluid and collapse of the bubble. This effectively minimizes cross talk between adjacent chambers and increases injection frequency of the microinjector. The formation of a second bubble within the chamber coalesces with a first formed bubble between the chamber and manifold to abruptly terminate the ejection of fluid, thereby eliminating satellite droplets.

  • Patent number: 6073498
Abstract: A fluid sampling system has a fluid enclosing element, such as drift cell (60), enclosing a volume of a first fluid. A body of a second fluid, for example in an inlet chamber (62), communicates with the body of first fluid via a small orifice (74). A series of negative pressure pulses is applied to the first fluid by an electromechanical transducer (92), each negative pulse causing a sample of the second fluid to be drawn in through the orifice (74). The sample is then entrained into the air flow of a closed loop circulatory system, and can be detected or measured by any appropriate equipment such as an ion mobility spectrometer.
