Abstract: The device is intended to dry the glue (containing polyurethane, neoprene, natural or synthetic rubber or mixtures thereof) after it has been spread on shoe uppers and/or soles. The device can be included in a system which includes carding, spreading and reactivation of the parts in order to press them together. The device comprises one or more vacuum chambers into which the shoe uppers and soles to which a water dispersion glue has previously been applied are fed, the vacuum chamber being subject to heat and decreased pressure under conditions to produce rapid evaporation of water and drying of the glue. The temperature can be fixed beforehand and increased by a source of heat.
Abstract: In a method of establishing and writing a pattern which, when placed in a light beam from a projector, produces an illuminated area of any shape and size displayed on a screen, a reference point is defined which, when projected onto the screen, forms a contrasted light area thereon. The reference point is moved in the light beam so that its trajectory defines an illuminated area of required shape displaying this movement. This trajectory is written onto a pattern storage device simultaneously with or subsequently to movement of the reference point. The device for implementing this method comprises a plate incorporating a plurality of writable locations, a displacement device for moving from location to location, a pattern defining device, a memorizing device and a pattern writing device. The method and device are primarily intended for use in the theatre and entertainment for producing luminous decorative effects and luminous areas related to the decor, objects and persons in the projection space.
Abstract: A battery charge state monitor has a charging circuit (40) for charging nickel cadmium cells. An integrating (80) generates a saw-tooth waveform during charging and discharging of the cells, the frequency of which is proportional to the rate of charging and discharging of the cells. The saw-tooth waveform is converted into a train of pulses by a pulse shaping circuit (120), the pulses being counted by a counter (140). During initial calibration, the number of pulses generated for an exact known quantity of charge is stored in a microprocessor (160). During subsequent use and charging of the cells, the counter (140) counts in one direction during charging and in the opposite direction during discharge. Since the frequency of pulses generated during charging and discharging is exactly proportional to the rate of charging and discharging the count of the counter (140) provides an exact indication of the state of charge of the cells.
Abstract: This relates to a nest for receiving a container which is to be filled and thereafter have a lid applied thereto with the lid being sealed to the container by a sealing head in conjunction with the nest. Most particularly, there will be a plurality of such nests with the nests being carried by an endless conveyor chain. The endless conveyor chain is provided with special links which are elongated and wherein an upper one of each set of elongated links is adapted to have seated thereon a nest in supporting relation. Further, the chain links are connected together by customary pins which have been elongated so as to project upwardly above the chain. In conjunction with these projecting pins, the nest is provided with bores which receive the pins. Thus the nest may be readily placed on and removed from the conveyor chain. Each nest is in the form of a housing which defines a cavity for a container. An upper part of the cavity carries a seat member over which a flange of a container is engaged.
Abstract: A blown plastic container of a type normally blown from a single resin preform, such as PET, wherein the bases of a three layer construction with at least one layer either being PET having a high IV or a resin which has a high Tg. The secondary resin may either be in the form of a core layer injected into the base of the injection molded preform or in the form of initially injected inner and outer base layers. By utilizing a small amount of the second resin, greater strength can be obtained together with a greater resistance to cracking at higher temperatures as well as the reduction in the overall weight of the resultant container.

Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a double damped flywheel for use in automobiles. The flywheel has two masses which delimit a first sealed cavity. The first sealed cavity is filled with a first fluid and has a resilient spring disposed within its cavity. A viscous damper is mechanically interposed between the two masses and includes a second sealed cavity which is delimited by the two masses. The second sealed cavity is filled with a second fluid which is different from the first fluid. The second sealed cavity is located generally inwardly of the first sealed cavity.
Abstract: A clutch comprises two coaxial clutch parts. One clutch part includes a pressure plate and a reaction plate coupled with a first shaft for rotation therewith. The other clutch part includes at least one friction disc coupled with a second shaft for rotation therewith. The pressure plate is subjected to the action of a control mechanism arranged to urge it towards or away from the reaction plate. A torque limiter is coupled with one or other of the shafts for rotation with it. The torque limiter is also coupled for rotation with one of the two clutch parts so as to rotate with that clutch part. The torque limiter is mounted within its own housing, which is disposed outside the space defined between the pressure plate and reaction plate of the clutch. The torque limiter housing is secured to a fixed support, typically the clutch casing itself, and includes a detector for detecting longitudinal forces exerted by the torque limiter.
Abstract: In a boxing plant for cones and/or conoids which at its inlet are disposed in groups of a certain number each, an apparatus for feeding groups of cones in an orientated and ordered arrangement to boxes comprises a first section (A) in which groups of cones (11) positioned on a container tray (12) in an essentially horizontal plane are orientated in a predetermined manner on opposite sides so that they all lie with their tails pointing towards the center, and a second section (B) in which they are discharged from the container trays (12) onto racks (15) and the cones (11) on one side are offset relative to the cones on the other side, and then moved while offset onto a central region (16) which can be opened in the manner of a sliding door above boxes (17) and in which the cones (11) disposed side by side in a head-tail arrangement are compacted (18) into matrices (44) having the same dimensions as the boxes and are then allowed to fall into the boxes by opening the sliding door.
Abstract: The grate comprises, within its length, two consecutive beds (41, 42) with substantially the same general slope joined together at a point in substantial vertical alignment with the altar wall (7), each bed having its own mobile frame (45d, 46d) with its own control means (45, 46) and its own draft chamber (43, 44) with its own ventilation means. It is therefore possible to adjust the combustion conditions so as to optimize the carbonization mode combustion on the upstream bed (41) and the brasier mode combustion on the downstream bed (42).

Abstract: A heat conducting support having electrodes is located in a chiller block. The electrodes form a temperature sensor, a heater electrode and electrodes for the measuring of the conductivity. The electrodes are covered by an electrically insulating layer, which layer limits or defines, respectively, over a length L a bedewable surface. The chiller block is encased in a heat insulation and its temperature is measured by a second temperature sensor. The cross-sectional area of the heat transfer between chiller block and bedewable surface is substantially smaller than the bedewable surface itself. This makes it now possible that the temperature at the bedewable surface during the forming of the condensate is determined substantially by the temperature of the condensate at the bedewable surface such that increasing formation of condensate a plateau is determinable at the dew point temperature.
Abstract: This relates to a tamper indicating band which is carried by a plastic closure to indicate that the plastic closure has at least in part been unscrewed with respect to an associated container. It is proposed that the tamper indicating band be directly connected to the closure skirt by way of bridges with the bridges having rupturable connections with the skirt and hinge connections with the tamper indicating band. Thus the tamper indicating band may be folded from its as molded state depending from the skirt to a position projecting upwardly into the lower part of the skirt. When the closure is applied to a conventional type of container, the tamper indicating band locks beneath a locking bead on the container neck finish and when the closure is unthreaded, the engagement of the tamper indicating band with the bead will prevent the tamper indicating band to move upwardly with the closure.
