  • Patent number: 5325346
Abstract: A track traverse detecting circuit for generating a count-out signal with precision in addressing high-speed traverse operations appropriately. The circuit includes a tracking zero cross (TZC) signal generating circuit, two delay circuits, an edge detecting circuit and a mirror signal generating circuit. The TZC signal generating circuit generates a TZC signal at the zero cross timing of a tracking error signal. The TZC signal is then delayed by one of the two delay circuits by an appropriate time in accordance with the traverse speed for access to a desired track. Edges of the delayed TZC signal are detected by the edge detecting circuit. A mirror signal output by the mirror signal generating circuit is sampled at the timing of the detected TZC signal edges. The output of the sampling is provided accurately as the count-out signal.

  • Patent number: 5323326
Abstract: Disclosed is a shape data processing method illustratively for use with a CAD,CAM (computed aided design/ computer aided manufacturing) system. The method involves measuring the volume of a target product based on the shape data of that product. In operation, a virtual projection surface is established for the target object to be measured. The surface of the object is divided into small regions. A column portion is formed as an extension from each small region to the projection surface. The volume of the column portion is measured for each small region. The measured volumes are accumulated in accordance with the orientation of the normal vector to each small region. This method allows the volume of the target object to be measured easily and with precision even if the shape thereof is complex.

  • Patent number: 5284538
Abstract: A double-side optical disc formed by a pair of optical disc halves bonded together, and a process for producing the double-side optical disc. An adhesive is applied to the disc halves, which are then bonded together at an angle relative to each other in which the direction of the adhesive flow on one disc half will intersect the direction of the adhesive flow on the other disc half. In this manner, satisfactory flatness of the optical disc may be achieved without being affected by surface irregularities of the adhesive layer.

  • Patent number: 4229086
Abstract: A recorder for placing linguistic character information on photosensitive media. The recorder utilizes a small number of selectively energizable light sources, relative motion between the light from those sources and the photosensitive media, and electronics to coordinate sequential flashing of those light sources to such motion to form individual or sequences of linguistic characters on the photosensitive media. The disclosed embodiment is a microfilm camera that places linguistic characters on microfilm in response to externally supplied character data. The microfilm camera includes a camera box and seven discrete, selectively energizable light sources that are fixedly mounted with respect to the camera box. A portion of photosensitive microfilm is fixed at least temporarily with respect to the camera box. A size reduction lens that is in motion for a period of time focuses light from the light sources upon various areas of the microfilm.
