  • Patent number: 4372351
Abstract: A frusto-conical shaped wire basket is formed of a plurality of upright wire loops welded in substantially perpendicular relationship to a plurality of wire rings. The baskets are formed by first welding wire connecting members to a plurality of arcuately shaped lengths of wire. Each of the arcuate lengths is of a different length and radius, and they are arranged concentrically in order of decreasing radius. The relative lengths of the arcuate segments are determined by the desired size of the finished basket. When the wire connecting members are welded to the arcuate segments in the first stage of basket production, there is formed a basket flat. The flat is then subjected to a conventional pinch roller mechanism which bends the flat into a conical shape. At that point the ends of each arcuate length are in face-to-face relationship and form a circle. The ends are then butt welded to close each circular ring to complete the wire basket.

  • Patent number: 4362001
Abstract: A cylindrical package to be wrapped with stretch film sheet material is supported on a pair of parallel, horizontally spaced, horizontally extending support rollers, one of which is rotatably driven and the other of which is a slave roll which rotates idly. A stretch film supply means is mounted on a movable carriage with the axis of the film supply means parallel to the axis of rotation of the package. The carriage is caused to reciprocate along a path parallel to the axis of rotation of the package and the support rollers. The reciprocation occurs between a first position where the film material extends beyond one end of the package a distance at least as great as the radius of the package and a second position where the film extends beyond the other end of the package a similar distance. The film material is wrapped while tension is applied thereto.

  • Patent number: 4357885
Abstract: Small fabric pieces to be embroidered are secured to the undersurface of an adapter member by tape strips or the like. The adapter member is then received in a female receiving seat in a fixture or frame secured to the conventional machine frame displacing device which presents the fabric pieces to one of the embroidery heads of a multi-head embroidery machine according to a prescribed pattern.

  • Patent number: 4350746
Abstract: A DC voltage source is housed in a reusable casing having bottom and side walls. A pair of coplanar terminal plates are slidably attached in a track along the bottom wall of the casing as to be horizontally movable to adjust the distance between the plates to correlate to the spacing between the terminal posts on the top surface of a conventional automotive battery. In use the auxiliary power source is self-contained, portable, and placed on top of a dead vehicle battery such that the charged terminal plates on the casing are in contact with the corresponding terminal posts of the dead battery and the vehicle is started.

  • Patent number: 4344505
Abstract: A rigid block of insulative material, such as expanded polystyrene or having an R value of 19 is mounted above the opening in the ceiling in which a disappearing staircase is mounted. The block is so mounted as to be movable entirely or so that a portion thereof is movable between a first normally closed position to a second open position providing access through the ceiling opening.

  • Patent number: 4343853
Abstract: A unique fabric construction having a backing fabric and a face fabric. At least one of the fabrics is made at least in part of yarns formed from synthetic fibers which have incorporated thereinto an antimicrobial agent. In some embodiments a tie yarn joins the two faces in plated relation. Even with minimal contact of the yarns in the two fabrics, the antimicrobial agent migrates from within the treated fibers in the one fabric to the surface thereof and transfers to the yarns in the other fabric. Thus there is imparted antimicrobial protection to both fabric faces while maintaining the advantages of naturally occurring, untreated fibers in one of the fabrics.

  • Patent number: 4335112
Abstract: The antibiotic bacitracin is introduced as a supplement into the feed for the poultry to control mites. The bacitracin is preferably administered by adding the zinc salt of bacitracin to the feed in amounts by weight in the range of 100-200 grams of bacitracin per ton.

  • Patent number: 4333367
Abstract: A pair of microswitches are mounted in the housing of an automatic screwdriver in the path of relative movement of the barrel thereof as it is urged rearwardly to activate a throttle valve and thus operate the drive mechanism of the screwdriver. Closure of both microswitches, which occurs during the driving of a fastener, resets the entire control circuit in readiness for the automatic emplacement of a new fastener upon completion of one driving operation. Release of one of the microswitches, as when the driving is completed activates a timer and air cylinder to drive the barrel forward into an extended receiving position. At the receiving position a new fastener is emplaced in the chamber of the mechanism. On completion of a predetermined time cycle, the barrel is returned to its normal position with one microswitch engaged, one not engaged, and a fastener in the barrel against the kit ready for the driving operation.

  • Patent number: 4326439
Abstract: Each row of uncured brick is arranged with a longitudinal axis extending transversely across the width of a push-off table and is serially pushed by preceding rows past the end of the table. An elevator device registers a first platform with the end of the push-off table to receive a first row(s) and a second platform vertically spaced therefrom to receive a second row(s). The upper and lower row(s) are then simultaneously pushed from the elevator onto the upstream end of a marshalling table to form a two layer stack. A first shuttle device includes a plurality of shorter, longitudinally extending bars interspersed between the bars forming the marshalling table. The bars of the shuttle device are vertically movable between a first position beneath the level of the marshalling table bars, and a second position above such level supporting the bricks thereon.

  • Patent number: 4326393
Abstract: A decorative surface for the exposed welt of a footlet-type sock is formed by knitting a plurality of successive courses of an elastic yarn and a synthetic or natural yarn in plated relationship. Each of the courses includes stitches formed and cast off in selected wales thereof separated by at least two successive float stitches, whereby the combination of the elastic yarn and the aforementioned knitting technique cause relatively wide bands or walewise ribs of raised or high relief fabric separated by relatively narrow bands of base fabric which exhibits a low relief area.

  • Patent number: 4318448
Abstract: A lightweight, yet heavy duty, self-contained towing vehicle of relatively small size and designed for maximum maneuverability in confined quarters, driven by a multi-speed, electric motor in which the forward speed is greater than the reverse speed. The steering control handle is pivotally mounted in cooperative relation to the drive wheels to act as a manual differential clutch thus facilitating maneuverability and convert the vehicle from power driven to freewheeling and even to somewhat control the speed of the vehicle. A clamp-on bracket is pivotally mounted about a vertical axis on the front end of the vehicle and selectively adapted to engage and hold a conventional tow bar of the type provided with the aircraft. The vehicle is battery powered and has two electrical systems, a first which drives the vehicle forwardly at one speed and a second, which drives the vehicle in reverse at a second slower speed.

  • Patent number: 4314528
Abstract: A multi-station cattle stanchion has a top rail with a trackway extending longitudinally of the stanchion in which the upper ends of a generally upright, J-shaped pivoting standard move laterally. A gravity operated locking bail is pivotally mounted at one end to the upper rail and includes an inclined tongue portion on the other end which extends into the path of the pivoting standard as it moves through the trackway. The tongue portion allows passage of the pivot standard in one direction, but blocks movement thereof in the other direction. A selectively activated lock disengaging plate may be moved by a master control rod into a position that lifts and holds the tongue portion out of the trackway.
