  • Patent number: 5666673
Abstract: A toilet seat structure having a support framework for placement atop a conventional toilet bowl. A cradle assembly presents a pair of triangularly-shaped side panels which pivotally and tangentially engage laterally spaced-apart rails extending along each side of the toilet bowl. Spanning the side panels are a front lift bar and a conventional toilet seat. User induced pressure on the lift bar positions the lift bar at the front of the bowl with the seat being presented at an angled position to allow user entry. Downward pressure on the seat causes the toilet seat to assume a functional horizontal position above the toilet bowl. Concurrently, the lift bar swings upwardly so as to draw the legs of the seated user towards the user's torso. At this position the user is in an enhanced "squatting" position which is said to be effective for bowel movement. Alternative embodiments of the cradle assembly, associated rails, side arms and support framework are shown.

  • Patent number: 5667192
Abstract: A mold especially adapted for forming precast, waffle-shaped concrete panels employs a one-piece mold body of flexible plastic sheet material to which rigid side rails are secured by tongue and groove longitudinal joints. The mold may be rapidly stripped and reset due to a hinge action provided by partial sides of the flexible body to which the rigid side rails are joined. The side rails and other structural features provide a simple mold structure that may be readily and efficiently employed for on-site production of panels. The configuration of the side rails and associated joints facilitates the replacement of a wornout mold body. A cover may be placed over the mold body while the concrete cures and automatically lifted therefrom after a predetermined time to allow the concrete to cool. Recess formers and connector covers for the panels are provided for appearance and security.

  • Patent number: 5659991
Abstract: A picture frame assembly comprises a first background panel for affixation to a wall surface, the panel having at least one aperture for releasable insertion of a picture frame therein. Tabs on the rear of the frame releasably secure the frame to slots in the panel for display of the frame in a wall hanging mode. Molding about the frame overlies the defining edge of the panel aperture. Removal of the tabs from the panel slots allows the frame to be disengaged from the panel. A leg on the rear surface of the removed frame supports the removed frame on a horizontal surface. The assembly thus presents structure allowing for picture display in wall mounted or stand alone modes.

  • Patent number: 5649618
Abstract: Apparatus utilizing a special clamping fixture supports a motorcycle or similar vehicle as it is conveyed along an assembly line. The fixture is secured to an overhead conveyor by a stabilized suspension means that positions the fixture beneath the motorcycle so that it may receive a pair of laterally spaced, lower frame members of the motorcycle frame. The fixture employs a pair of vises located fore and aft relative to the direction of movement of the conveyor, each of which has a pair of jaws with an axis of clamping action extending transversely of the direction of conveyor movement for receiving a corresponding frame member. An operating means which may be actuated from either side of the conveyor opens and closes the two vises in unison to clamp and hold the frame members. In order to accommodate dimensional variations in the spacing between the frame members, one of the vises is free to float horizontally independently of the other vise as the jaws are tightened onto the frame.

  • Patent number: 5642749
Abstract: A pouch/clutch for releasable attachment to a crutch between the arm pad and handle. The clutch is releasably attachable to the crutch for use independent of the crutch. A lower flap extends from the bottom of the clutch to hold magazines or the like upon engagement of first and second fasteners found on the lower flap. A pocket on the exterior of the clutch allows for storage of smaller items therein. The placement of the clutch between the arm pad and handle further positions the clutch between the arm and torso of the user so as to diminish third person access thereto and thus enhance security. The releasable attachment of the clutch to the crutch enables the user to easily access the clutch independent of the crutch. Such access precludes the need to manipulate the crutch for access to the associated clutch.

  • Patent number: 5636575
Abstract: A retarder apparatus controls the speed of a free, load-carrying conveyor as it moves in a predetermined direction along a path of travel defined by the track in which the conveyor runs. Paddle members are spaced at regular intervals along an endless movable chain and each, in turn, is positioned in the track in the path of the next conveyor. Upon engagement of an individual paddle by an oncoming conveyor, the chain is instantly accelerated to the speed of the conveyor and this motion is transmitted through a chain sprocket to a centrifugal brake which, if a normal speed is being exceeded, limits the speed of movement of the chain to hold back a runaway conveyor and return it to the normal speed.

  • Patent number: 5632342
Abstract: A lawn spreader composed of a cylindrical drum mounted to a user-operable handle assembly. Along the surface of a drum are a plurality of spaced-apart spike arrays with a plurality of aperture arrays interposed therebetween. A door at one end of the drum allows for deposit of granular materials, such as grass seed, within the drum. A paddle array within the drum is rotatable therein so as to open or close selected apertures of the aperture arrays. Upon drum rotation, as urged by the user on the handle assembly, the spikes first indent the earth with the grass seed then falling through the open apertures and into and between the resulting indentations in the earthen surface therebetween. The smooth surface of the drum then tamps the deposited seeds into the earthen surface. The spikes are preferably releasably attached to the cylindrical drum so that various types of spikes can be used.
