Abstract: A medicament and method for inducing immunity in to infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis in cattle. The medicament comprises the gram negative cocci Neisseria or Branhamella which are non-etiological agents of infectious Keratoconjunctivitis yet unexpectedly are found to afford an immunity to infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis when administered to cattle.
Abstract: An air conditioning system for a vehicle of the type having an engine which produces heat conveyed from the engine by an exhaust system, a water circulation system and an oil circulation system, comprising a heat engine including a refrigerant circulation system and a refrigerant circulation subsystem. The refrigerant circulation system is connected to at least one of the heat conveying systems from the engine such that the refrigerant in the refrigerant circulation system is heated. The heat so received drives the refrigerant in the refrigerant circulation subsystem by means of an ejector. Expansion of refrigerant in the refrigerant circulation subsystem provides air conditioning through a load evaporator. The refrigerant circulation system is preferably connected to the vehicle engine to obtain synergistic use of the engine water pump, radiator fan, oil circulation system and exhaust circulation system.
Abstract: A method and device for use in connection with a dough divider machine which continuously uses mineral oil for lubrication. The method comprises capturing mineral oil, flour, and dough contaminants which becomes mixed as the dough divider operates and filtering the captured mixture so that substantially pure mineral oil is separated from the flour, dough and contaminates. The substantially pure mineral oil is then injected back into the dough divider machine for lubrication. By comparing lost mineral oil to the weight of bakery products produced during a predetermined period, the amount of mineral oil in the bakery products is determined. The filtration method and device utilize a gravity filtration diffuser coalesence and precipitation and a suction filtration. The device is portable for use with either one or more dough divider machines and for cleaning.
Abstract: A method and device for use in regulating torque application to a drill string when joining drill string segments using a tong and winch combination. A tension gauge and an angle measuring gauge continuously read tension on the winch line and the angle between the winch line and the tong arm. Actual torque on the drill string segments is calculated thereby and used to deactuate the winch clutch when a desired torque has been applied. A display and printer can display and print torque information as the process of make up proceeds.
Abstract: A device for drawing, holding and dispensing a plurality of distinct, relatively low volume, liquid masses. A plunger plate with an array of plungers is received in a draw tube plate with an array of draw tubes. A piston tip is sealingly disposed in the draw tubes and the plungers are connected thereto. The draw tube plate can be received by a reservoir plate such that the draw tubes extend into an array of wells in the reservoir plate. By finger pressure the plunger plate can be reciprocated with respect to the draw tube plate to move the pistons in the draw tubes for drawing, holding and dispensing a plurality of distinct liquid masses. Preferably the pistons have an inverted concave, conical tip shape and mate with an inner, lower surface of the draw tubes.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for treatment of crude oil and well fluids and equipment used in conducting the well fluids. Solar heating means are provided to heat the well fluids to improve the treatment qualities of the fluids. A solar heater is connected to an oil well flow line to remove paraffin and demulsify at the oil well site.
Abstract: A three phase absorption system containing two or more reactor systems for binding refrigerant in a thermally reversible chemical reaction to absorbent materials within the reactor systems, means for supplying heat to, and removing heat from the reactor systems, means for recovery of at least part of the sensible heat energy from reactors in each of the reactor systems, and means for conveying, expanding, evaporating and condensing refrigerant gas from the reactor systems.
Abstract: A method and device for positioning and guiding pipe, including coupling and uncoupling pipe, in a drilling derrick having a work table for securing pipe extending into the well. The upper end of a first pipe section is received and horizontally secured by a mechanical arm attached to the derrick pipe so that the upper end of the first section is disposed above a second pipe section secured in the work table. In uncoupling the first pipe section is unthreaded and raised prior to releasing it from the mechanical arm. In coupling, the first pipe section is lowered and coupled to the second pipe section prior to releasing it from the mechanical arm. The mechanical arm is movable from a horizontal to a vertical position to avoid obstructing the work area. A lock and a remote fluid operating system are preferrably provided for the arm.
Abstract: A method and device for assaying a test substance utilizing a primary absorbent substance for selectively allowing only a quantity of an analytical reagent proportional to the quantity of test substance to pass therethrough when test substance and analytical reagent are contacted with the primary absorbent. An analytical absorbent is disposed in a series of zones for sequentially absorbing the analytical reagent which passes through the primary absorbent so that detection of the last zone of absorbed analytical reagent indicates the quantity of test substance. The method comprises passing test substance and analytical reagent through the primary absorbent and then the analytical absorbent followed by detection of the last zone in which analytical reagent is absorbed. The device comprises a funnel with the primary absorbent therein for directing the test substance and analytical reagent to a narrow tube holding the analytical absorbent.
Abstract: A bowling pin orientation device for orienting to a single axial orientation bowling pins of the type having a relatively heavy base portion and a relatively light neck portion. The device includes an arm disposed beneath a horizontal shelf from which bowling pins fall, tipping differently depending on whether base-first or neck-first. The arm extends downwardly and away from the shelf and is disposed so that the neck of a neck-first pin slides along the arm causing the pin to move to a base-down orientation while not receiving the base of a base-first pin so that the base-first pin also moves to a base-down position. The arm preferably includes a projecting finger at its lower end to deflect upwardly the neck of a pin sliding down the arm. The arm can be adjustably positioned across a turnaround pan of the conventional type.
