  • Patent number: 4269786
Abstract: Novel sulfate salts of C.sub.10 -C.sub.20 linear alkyl glyceryl ether alcohols, useful as biodegradable surfactants in detergent compositions, are prepared by reacting a stoichiometric excess of C.sub.10 -C.sub.20 linear alkyl alcohol with glycidol predissolved in hexyl acetate, to selectively produce C.sub.10 -C.sub.20 linear alkyl glyceryl ether alcohols containing 1-3 glyceryl units, sulfating said ether alcohols, and neutralizing the sulfates with base.

  • Patent number: 4255274
Abstract: Dense rotary dried sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) particles having a bulk density of at least 0.9 g/cc and a particle size distribution of 0 to 85% by weight +20 mesh, 15 to 100% by weight -20 +100 mesh and 0 to 20% by weight -100 mesh are moisturized by adding a sufficient amount of water to produce a material containing on the average between about 10% and about 30% by weight moisture. The moisturized material is calcined to a temperature within the range of from about 300.degree. to about 600.degree. C., to produce a granular STPP product having low friability, high absorptivity and a bulk density within the range of from about 0.65 to about 0.87 g/cc.

  • Patent number: 4251498
Abstract: Screen undersize sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) particles are compacted, milled and moisturized by adding a sufficient amount of water thereon to produce a material containing on the average between about 15% and about 35% by weight moisture. The moisturized material is calcined to a temperature within the range of from about 300.degree. to about 600.degree. C., to produce a granular STPP product having a low friability, high absorptivity, and a bulk density within the range of from about 0.65 to about 0.87 g/cc.

  • Patent number: 4134963
Abstract: Finely divided sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) particles are sprayed with water in an amount from about 36% to about 130% in excess of the amount stoichiometrically required for formation of sodium tripolyphosphate hexahydrate to form an agglomerated product which is then calcined to a temperature within the range of from about 320.degree. C to about 550.degree. C to produce a granular sodium tripolyphosphate product of low bulk density and low frangibility.

  • Patent number: 4118569
Abstract: Novel hydrated, potassium-containing chloroisocyanurate complex compounds and mixtures thereof are described together with processes for preparing the same. The novel compounds of this invention, namely, [(mono-trichloro,) tetra-(monopotassium dichloro,)] penta-isocyanurate tetrahydrate, and hydrated (mono-trichloro,) (monopotassium dichloro,) di-isocyanurate and mixtures thereof, are prepared by reacting in a substantially dry state trichloroisocyanuric acid and potassium dichloroisocyanurate monohydrate, the reaction products being determined by the molecular ratio of the starting materials. These novel compounds are resistant to burning, will not undergo self-propagating decomposition when subjected to a source of intense heat, as for example a hot wire, and are useful as a source of available chlorine in, for example bleaching, sterilizing, oxidizing and disinfecting operations.

  • Patent number: 4033959
Abstract: Processes are described for the preparation of certain potassium-containing chloroisocyanurate complex compounds, namely, hydrated and non-hydrated [(mono-trichloro,) tetra(monopotassium dichloro,)] penta-isocyanurate, which are useful as bleaching, sterilizing, oxidizing and disinfecting agents. These processes involve reacting in a substantially dry state, potassium dichloroisocyanurate monohydrate and a dichloroisocyanuric acid compound in amounts such that the molar ratio of the potassium dichloroisocyanurate monohydrate to said acid compound is in the range of 1:1 to 3:1.
