Abstract: A device for disabling the draw works of a well drilling apparatus responsive to the locking of the drill string by a blow out prevention device. The device comprises an air-actuated valve connected for regulating the flow of air to the air-actuated clutch of the draw works. A second valve regulates the flow of pressurized air to the air actuated valve. The second valve is responsive to the actuation of the blow out prevention device by an accumulator valve.
Abstract: A device for use with a toggle bolt of the type having a toggle threadable to a bolt. The device comprises a spool which has an opening for receiving the bolt therethrough. Connected to the spool is a leg member for extending along the bolt such that the toggle is guided by the leg member as the toggle is engaged by the bolt. The spool fits in the hole in a securing member through which the bolt extends to fix the bolt with respect to the securing member.
Abstract: A gas regulation device to delay for a predetermined time the closing of a gas actuated main valve of the type having a main valve conduit connected to the main valve for carrying the gas which actuates the main valve. The regulation device comprises a first conduit which can be disposed in the main valve conduit to form a portion thereof and a check valve which is disposed in the first conduit so that gas can pass through the first conduit only in one direction. A bypass conduit is connected to the first conduit across the check valve such that gas can pass from the first conduit on one side of the check valve through the bypass conduit to the first conduit on the other side of the check valve. A flow regulation device is disposed in the bypass conduit to limit the flow of gas through said bypass conduit such that the pressure drop or increase required to open or close the main valve is delayed for a predetermined time.
Abstract: A nut cracking device commprising a hammer having an opening for receiving the end of a nut and applying columnar pressure thereon and a plate which faces the hammer for receiving the opposite end of the nut and applying columnar pressure thereon. A spring urges the hammer toward the plate in a cracking process wherein a rotating shaft repeatedly draws and releases the hammer. A turntable, also motivated by the rotating shaft, has an opening for receiving a nut from a reservoir of nuts and transferring that nut to a rest disposed between the hammer and the plate. The rotating shaft also motivates the rest to pivot allowing the nut to fall from the rest after it has been cracked.
Abstract: A securing device for securing objects with respect to spaced apart beams or the like. A rigid extensible member is provided for bridging the span between the beams and securely pressing its ends against the beams. A non-rigid support such as a chain is connected to the ends of the rigid extensible member and secures the object such that a binding force is not exerted on the midportion of the rigid extensible device. If desired, a hydraulic jack can be utilized as the rigid extensible member.
Abstract: A temperature conditioning system employing an ejector-type compressor and a refrigerant selected for operation at the limited operating temperatures of a heat energy collection and storage apparatus. Improved performance may be achieved by employing a two-tank storage system having a control circuit for supplying heat transfer medium from the hotter of the tanks for return to the cooler.
Abstract: A device for supporting an arrow disposed in a ready-to-shoot position on an archery bow. The device has at least three contact points for contacting the arrow and completely radially supporting the arrow. Three openings are provided for receiving the rear guide fins of the arrow therethrough when the arrow is projected.
Abstract: A device and method for purging a liquid carrying conduit with pressurized gas, the device having a reservoir for holding a quantity of gas which is connected to a supply of pressurized gas. The reservoir is also connected to the liquid carrying conduit. In response to a first signal, a first valve isolates the gas reservoir and the supply of pressurized gas and a second valve communicates the reservoir and the liquid carrying conduit. In response to a second signal the first valve communicates the reservoir and the supply of pressurized gas and the second valve isolates the reservoir and the liquid carrying conduit. The first signal can indicate when the liquid carrying conduit is carrying liquid and the second signal can indicate when the conduit can be purged. Preferably, this device can be attached to a gas well separator to prevent freezing of the pipe conveying liquid away from the separator.
Abstract: A handrail having an elongated trim piece received on an elongated retainer. The retainer has a medial portion, a handgrip portion and a retainer flange portion, the handgrip portion having a vertical support member which provides a substantially rigid support of the trim piece with respect to a vertically downward force. The trim piece is made of a resilient material adapted to flex toward the retainer upon impact. The trim piece has a medial portion, a handgrip portion and a flange portion. The trim piece joins closely with the retainer to avoid dirt and germ traps. Preferably, an end cap is provided to close the end of the rail. The end cap has two mating wall members which form an interior space. A fastener disposed within the interior space connects the end cap to the retainer. The wall members have interlocking pieces within the interior space to interlock the two mating wall members when they are joined.
Abstract: A cooking apparatus includes a frame having first and second side walls and having first and second end walls joining the first and second side walls. A first divider wall spans between the first and second side walls and divides the frame into first and second cooking zones. The first zone is particularly adapted for deep frying foods and the second zone is particularly adapted for grilling foods. A second divider wall spans between the first end wall and the first divider wall and divides the first cooking zone into first and second containers for holding a cooking liquid such as cooking oil. A first heat exchanger includes a first horizontally oriented tube portion located within the first container and extending through the first end wall and the first divider wall above a bottom of the first container.
Abstract: An improved well packing device of the type having an inflatable bladder reinforced with a reinforcing material, and also having an annular end piece attached to the inflatable bladder. The reinforcing material is looped at one end about a toroidal member. This toroidal member is contained in an annular cavity of the end piece. A shoulder portion of the end piece forms a slot, narrower than the toroidal member, through which the reinforcing material extends, thus providing an improved connection between the inflatable bladder and the end piece.
Abstract: An improved animal carrier and passageway wherein a pickup truck has an animal enclosure with walls extending upwardly from the truck bed walls and a rear wall which extends upwardly from the truck bed inside the rear gate. The rear wall has an opening which can be selectively closed with a gate. A trailer can be attached to the pickup by a hitch at the front of the trailer. The trailer has an animal housing with an opening at its front end. A walking board extends from the front opening of the trailer to the rear wall opening of the truck enclosure to allow animals to walk between the trailer housing and the truck enclosure. Side rails extend along the walking board to contain the animals walking thereon.
