  • Patent number: 4390037
Abstract: A gas regulation device to delay for a predetermined time the closing of a gas actuated main valve of the type having a main valve conduit connected to the main valve for carrying the gas which actuates the main valve. The regulation device comprises a first conduit which can be disposed in the main valve conduit to form a portion thereof and a check valve which is disposed in the first conduit so that gas can pass through the first conduit only in one direction. A bypass conduit is connected to the first conduit across the check valve such that gas can pass from the first conduit on one side of the check valve through the bypass conduit to the first conduit on the other side of the check valve. A flow regulation device is disposed in the bypass conduit to limit the flow of gas through said bypass conduit such that the pressure drop or increase required to open or close the main valve is delayed for a predetermined time.

  • Patent number: 4378731
Abstract: A nut cracking device commprising a hammer having an opening for receiving the end of a nut and applying columnar pressure thereon and a plate which faces the hammer for receiving the opposite end of the nut and applying columnar pressure thereon. A spring urges the hammer toward the plate in a cracking process wherein a rotating shaft repeatedly draws and releases the hammer. A turntable, also motivated by the rotating shaft, has an opening for receiving a nut from a reservoir of nuts and transferring that nut to a rest disposed between the hammer and the plate. The rotating shaft also motivates the rest to pivot allowing the nut to fall from the rest after it has been cracked.

  • Patent number: 4374580
Abstract: A securing device for securing objects with respect to spaced apart beams or the like. A rigid extensible member is provided for bridging the span between the beams and securely pressing its ends against the beams. A non-rigid support such as a chain is connected to the ends of the rigid extensible member and secures the object such that a binding force is not exerted on the midportion of the rigid extensible device. If desired, a hydraulic jack can be utilized as the rigid extensible member.

  • Patent number: 4355652
Abstract: A device and method for purging a liquid carrying conduit with pressurized gas, the device having a reservoir for holding a quantity of gas which is connected to a supply of pressurized gas. The reservoir is also connected to the liquid carrying conduit. In response to a first signal, a first valve isolates the gas reservoir and the supply of pressurized gas and a second valve communicates the reservoir and the liquid carrying conduit. In response to a second signal the first valve communicates the reservoir and the supply of pressurized gas and the second valve isolates the reservoir and the liquid carrying conduit. The first signal can indicate when the liquid carrying conduit is carrying liquid and the second signal can indicate when the conduit can be purged. Preferably, this device can be attached to a gas well separator to prevent freezing of the pipe conveying liquid away from the separator.

  • Patent number: 4353529
Abstract: A handrail having an elongated trim piece received on an elongated retainer. The retainer has a medial portion, a handgrip portion and a retainer flange portion, the handgrip portion having a vertical support member which provides a substantially rigid support of the trim piece with respect to a vertically downward force. The trim piece is made of a resilient material adapted to flex toward the retainer upon impact. The trim piece has a medial portion, a handgrip portion and a flange portion. The trim piece joins closely with the retainer to avoid dirt and germ traps. Preferably, an end cap is provided to close the end of the rail. The end cap has two mating wall members which form an interior space. A fastener disposed within the interior space connects the end cap to the retainer. The wall members have interlocking pieces within the interior space to interlock the two mating wall members when they are joined.
