  • Patent number: 6564472
Abstract: The invention provides a process for bringing particulate material into contact with a moving fluid in an annular processing zone to create processed material. The zone has a base and the process includes generating a circumferentially directed flow of gas in the zone to develop a circumferentially circulating turbulent bed of particulate material within the processing zone. Particulate material is supplied to the processing zone so that the particulate material is circulated in the processing zone to provide a predictable particle flow path both circumferential of the processing zone and helically of the zone.

  • Patent number: 6322128
Abstract: The present invention provides a hinge which can be used to attach a cover made up of individual parts to a cargo bed of a pick-up truck. The hinge provides adjustments to accommodate variations in the cargo bed so that the cover can be placed on the bed and the parts of the cover located relative to one another to allow the parts to be opened and closed independently. The hinge includes a mechanism which permits lengthwise movement relative to the truck as the cover part is raised angularly about the hinge so that the part does not interfere with adjacent parts as the part is raised or lowered. A cover made up of several parts for attachment to a cargo bed of a pick-up truck is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6293511
Abstract: A collapsible stand of the type used to display sheet music for a musician is provided. The stand has a music support and a hinge attached to the music support for connecting the music support to a base having a telescopic post and legs releasably attached to the post. The music support includes rectangular first and second platens which can be moved about the axis of the hinge between an open position in which they are co-planar to support music in a closed position to define a cavity for containing the base after it has been disassembled.

  • Patent number: 6251274
Abstract: The invention provides a faucet attachment for treating water issuing from a faucet of the type having a threaded outlet for receiving an aerator. The attachment has a valve assembly including a generally cylindrical inner structure having a faucet attachment for threadably engaging the thread on the faucet to seal the faucet attachment to the faucet, and a valve element below the faucet attachment. An outer structure contains the inner structure and includes a first outlet below the valve element, and a second outlet extending orthogonally with respect to said main axis. A housing receives water from the second outlet and a bottom exit is provided on the housing for dispensing treated water. The housing is movable angularly between a first position in which water leaves through the bottom exit. A cartridge is also provided for use in the attachment.

  • Patent number: 6238153
Abstract: The invention provides a rail cap for use on the wall of the cargo area of a pickup truck. The rail cap includes an elongate main body having first and second portions generally at right angles to one another, and a clamp extending along the main body. The clamp has an elongate element, a first actuator coupling the elongate element to the second portion, and operable to draw the elongate element towards the second portion, and a second actuator coupled to the elongate element and operable to push the elongate element away from the first portion. The rail cap can be assembled on the bed rail of a pickup truck without modifying the bed rail by drilling.

  • Patent number: 6203078
Abstract: The invention provides a bumper for a pickup truck or other utility vehicle and which can be adapted to receive and support an accessory such as a crane, winch or carrying rack. The bumper includes an elongate rigid support frame for positioning transversely of the length of the truck, support frame having a vertically extended central portion, and tapered side portions. Optionally, at least one accessory receiver is rigidly attached to the support frame for receiving and supporting an accessory. Bracket members are rigidly attached to the frame for attachment to a vehicle. The bumper resists downward rotational and translational deflection relative to a utility vehicle when an accessory is in use on the bumper.

  • Patent number: 6170897
Abstract: A cargo anchoring and protection system is provided using various embodiments of bed liners some of which include storage compartments to make use of the space surrounding wheel wells in a pickup truck cargo bed. The bed liners can also include connector strips to facilitate using liners made up of several parts and also to provide for attachment of loads to the floor of the cargo bed of the pickup truck.

  • Patent number: 6120155
Abstract: The invention provides a reflector device and a reflector system for mounting to a vehicle having front and rear seats to allow a person in the front seat to view an infant in a rearwardly facing safety seat attached to the rear seat. The reflector system includes a pair of reflector devices of which one may be in accordance with the invention. The reflector device in accordance with the invention is mountable upright on a back of the rear seat and includes a mounting assembly and a reflector with a forwardly-facing reflecting surface pivotally connected to the mounting assembly so as to be pivotable in three-dimensions. The reflector device is preferably mounted to one side of the infant and has an upward extent below the rear window of the vehicle so as not to obstruct a driver's view through the rear window and to not present a hazard to the infant.

  • Patent number: 6108935
Abstract: In a process for processing particulate material with a stream of fluid in an annular processing zone, which includes the steps of supplying the particulate material for processing in the zone, discharging processed material from the zone and generating in the zone a circumferentially directed flow of fluid to develop a circulating turbulent band of particles, an improvement to the processing zone which provides a predictable particle flow path both circumferentially and helically of the zone. The improvement comprises directing the flow of fluid to develop a circulating bed with inner bed depth and outer bed depth, a flow of fluid directed at an angle relative to the processing zone base and controlling fluid velocity so that it is greater than the terminal velocity of larger particles point of impact on the bed base and less than the terminal velocity of smaller particles in the superficial space above the bed upper surface.
