  • Patent number: 7941150
Abstract: A method and system for allocating shareable wireless transmission resources. A resource pool is established. The resource pool is divided into a plurality of physical layer allocation units usable for wirelessly transmitting control information and traffic data. The allocation units are assigned at the media access control layer for the wireless transmission of the control information and traffic data. The system and method of the present invention also allows mobile stations to be dynamically grouped into multicast groupings to reduce system overhead resource requirements.

  • Patent number: 7936680
Abstract: After statically provisioned paths are created through an Ethernet network, trunks may be created to extend along those paths. The trunks extend between pairs of NNI interfaces on either end of the path, and Ethernet OAM may be run over the trunks to detect connectivity along the paths. Service instances and service groups may be provisioned over particular paths through the network. Each service instance/service group is associated with a trunk and the Ethernet OAM service on the trunk may be used to provide Ethernet connectivity OAM for the service instance/service group. Upon detection of a failure on the trunk, the service instances/service groups associated with the trunk may be caused to failover to an alternate path through the network. Thus, a single Ethernet OAM service instance may be used to provide connectivity verification so that connectivity detection does not need to be performed on each individual service instances/service group.

  • Patent number: 7936743
Abstract: A system, computer program and method to determine a transmission path of a datagram in an IP network from a source device to a destination device. The source device sends a datagram to an IP network device along the transmission path to the destination device. The datagram comprises as destination address, the IP address of the destination device and as source address, the IP address of the network manager station. Consequently, replies, if any, to the datagram are sent back directly to the network manager station by the IP network device along the transmission path, bypassing the source device.

  • Patent number: 7925768
Abstract: A method and network for adapting a network management protocol (e.g., TL-1) for various transmission protocol terminologies (e.g., SDH and SONET). A network element operates in one transmission protocol mode and sends network management messages to a network management device in a managing terminology based on another transmission protocol mode. The network management device then translates the network management messages to be presented in a user interface at the network management device to an operating terminology based on the operating transmission protocol mode used by the network element.

  • Patent number: 7918387
Abstract: A label having a coded pattern provides information regarding the type of thread on a thread spool loaded on an embroidery machine and feeding one of the needles. A detector positioned at the base of a spindle on the thread tree reads the label. The label is attached to the bottom of a thread spool such that it is substantially flush with the detector. The label has a pattern that is readable by the detector regardless of its rotational orientation and provides information about the type of thread on the spool. This pattern corresponds to thread type information stored in data base.

  • Patent number: 7915849
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system that improve the low-speed control stability of a video camera assembly, including a video camera, a tilt motor operable to tilt the video camera and a pan motor operable to pan the video camera. A first encoder is coupled to one of the tilt motor and pan motor. The first encoder outputs a plurality of signals having corresponding signal edges, based on a rotation speed of the one of the tilt motor and pan motor. A first controller is in electrical communication with the first encoder. The first controller determines a speed of the one of the tilt motor and pan motor at least in part by correlating a time period between detection of the first edge and detection of the second edge to the speed of the at least one tilt motor and pan motor.

  • Patent number: 7896870
Abstract: A catheter includes a cryoablation tip with an ablation assembly for heating tissue. The cryoablation tip may be implemented with a cooling chamber and have an RF electrode at its distal end. The electrode may be operated to warm cryogenically-cooled tissue, or the coolant may be controlled in combination with an RF treatment regimen to enhance the lesion size, speed or placement of multi-lesion or single lesion cycles. In one embodiment a microwave energy source operates to extend beyond the thermal conduction depth, or penetrate the ice ball and be absorbed in tissue beyond an ice boundary, thus extending a dimension of treatment. Also, the cooling and application of RF energy can be controlled to position the ablation region away from the surface contacted by the electrode thereby leaving surface tissue unharmed while ablating at depth or to provide an ablation band of greater uniformity with increasing depth.
