Abstract: A hand-held, surgical instrument to manipulate a patient's tissues having a grip, a first blade, a second blade, a blade actuator, at least one blade rib, a light, and a power source. The first blade and the second blade each extend from the base end of the grip. The second blade is divided longitudinally into a left segment and a right segment, which are each pivotable about a common axis. Movement of the blade actuator causes the segments of the second blade to pivot about the common axis. The light illuminates the patient's tissues proximate the blades. The device may include suction ports on the underside of the first blade to provide aspiration. The blade rib may include multiple longitudinal blade ribs extending along the length of the first blade, the second blade, or both. The blade rib may also include multiple transverse blade ribs extending along the width of the first blade, the second blade, or both.
Abstract: A quantum cascade laser utilizing non-resonant extraction design having a multilayered semiconductor with a single type of carrier; at least two final levels (1 and 1?) for a transition down from level 2; an energy spacing E21 greater than ELO; an energy spacing E31 of about 100 meV; and an energy spacing E32 about equal to ELO. The carrier wave function for level 1 overlaps with the carrier wave function for level 2. Likewise, the carrier wave function for level 1? overlaps with the carrier wave function for level 2. In a second version, the basic design also has an energy spacing E54 of about 90 meV, and levels 1 and 1? do not have to be spatially close to each other, provided that level 2 has significant overlap with both these levels. In a third version, there are at least three final levels (1, 1?, and 1?) for a transition down from level 2. Each of the levels 1, 1?, and 1? has a non-uniform squared wave function distribution.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an interlock attaching strap system, comprising a carrier having a plurality of first webbing strips transversely, evenly and spacedly affixed thereon, a holder having a plurality of second webbing strips transversely, evenly and spacedly affixed thereon, wherein by overlapping the carrier and holder, the first webbing strips and the second webbing strips are capable forming an elongate interlocking channel; at least an elongated interfering strap, which is longitudinally extended on the holder, having an affixing end extended from a peripheral edge of the holder and a free tab end, arranged to slidably pass through the interlocking channel and is hooked onto the last webbing strip so as to securely reinforce the holder on the carrier via the interfering strap.

Abstract: An exercise chair primarily directed to employing an exercise method, with independent, adjustable foot bars and a foldable configuration. The seat is supported by a plurality of support elements, at least some of which are hingeably connected with the seat, so that the chair can be folded into a compact shape for storage or transport. The independent foot bars may each be attached to a lever that is hingeably coupled one or more of the support elements. The position of the foot bars may also be adjustable by extending out of the levers and locking into the desired position. One or more resistance elements may be removably attached to a location below the chair seat, and individually connected with the levers via an adjusting assembly that can either slide or be placed in pre-set mounting locations along the lever to provide variable resistance, or can be equipped with a turnbuckle to provide varying resistance.
Abstract: An apparatus for removing wires and cables through underground conduits that overcomes the disadvantages of previous wire pulling devices and is simple in design, easy to use, and easy to transport. Such an apparatus comprises a base frame, an upper pulley, a lower pulley, and an adjustable frame to adjust the height of the pulleys relative to the ground. In addition, the lower pulley can also function as a wheel for transporting the apparatus.
Abstract: A unique four function surgical instrument that performs aspiration, irrigation, dilation and cauterization with an innovative trigger mechanism. An embodiment is “gun-like” in configuration having a housing with a depending handle and a protruding trigger, a forward extending pair of forceps-like arms that terminate in dilation/cauterization tips and a common conduit between the forceps-like arms. The unique trigger mechanism utilizes a pinch valve concept where the trigger button has an elongated portion that has two slide surfaces with offset a recesses that act like tracks on which pinch sliders follow and the pinch sliders act like valve stems that squeeze close and allow to open silicone tubing. The end result, being a single poll, two stage actuator such that a half a pump of the trigger delivers irrigation or aspiration and a full pump delivers the other.
