  • Patent number: 3947108
Abstract: An improved cleaning apparatus and process are provided including a cleaning means for removing toner particles and other particulate contaminants. A contaminant removal means is provided positioned between the cleaning means and the means for charging an electrostatic imaging member. The contaminant removal means which comprises a scrubber member is adapted to remove film-like contaminants which would otherwise cause deletions in the resulting copy sheet.

  • Patent number: 3945342
Abstract: A magnetic brush support member, the process of making it and a magnetic brush apparatus incorporating the support member are provided. The support member includes at least one surface for supporting a magnetic brush. The support member is formed of a composite comprising a metal binder component and a particulate second phase component. The second phase material is selected to have a greater abrasion resistance than the metal binder. A portion of the second phase protrudes from the metal binder at the support surface. The support member may be formed by casting or powder metallurgical techniques followed by removing a portion of the metal binder from the support surface to allow the second phase particles to protrude therefrom. Magnetic brush apparatuses adapted for cleaning or developing in electrostatographic machines are provided which include one or more of the magnetic brush support members.

  • Patent number: 3944365
Abstract: An apparatus for feeding individual sheets over a support surface such as a transparent viewing platen. The apparatus includes means for feeding the sheets wherein the feeding means is movable between an operable position over the surface and an inoperable position off of the surface. Latching means are provided for locking the feeding means in the operable position. Actuating means are provided for moving the feeding means between the operable and the inoperable positions, and for locking and unlocking the latching means. Means are provided operatively associated with the latching means and the actuating means for unlocking the latching means prior to movement of the document feeder off the surface. The unlocking means preferably comprises a lost motion device. A reproducing machine including the above-noted feeding apparatus is also provided.
